Chapter 4: For Dawn!
"Well, I don't believe Ash would worry about Dawn either, but he really did call. You were in your room at the time, so I didn't disturb you."
"Excuse me, are you Miss Dawn?" Nurse Joy asked.
"That's me. What is it, Nurse Joy?" Dawn asked.
"A boy from Pallet Town called for you. He said his name was Ash," Nurse Joy said.
"Ash!? It really was Ash!?" Unable to believe it, Dawn raced over as though she were sprinting a hundred meters.
"Hey, Zoey, does Dawn..."
"May, you're not the only one thinking that."
The two exchanged wry smiles.
"Ash! Long time no see! How have you been?" Dawn asked excitedly.
"Dawn! I've been great. I was going to ask if you were okay. I heard you lost in the first judging round three times," Ash asked worriedly.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I've decided to quit Pokémon Contests and become a Pokémon fashion designer. After those competitions, I did a lot of thinking. Maybe Pokémon Contests really aren't for me."
"Enough about that. What about you, Ash? Have you become a Pokémon Master yet?" Dawn asked.
"Not yet. I don't even understand what being a Master means." Ash looked at Dawn with a wry smile.
"Well, that's pretty typical of you. When you like something, you throw yourself into it and forget everything around you," Dawn said with a smile.
"Yeah, that's true. So I'm going to challenge the Indigo League again."
"The Indigo League? But didn't you stop at the top sixteen last time?"
"Ah, yeah. But maybe once I become the champion, I'll understand what being a Pokémon Master means to me. Right now, I'm just following the path I believe
