As Ash and Yuta chatted about Pokémon, they gradually reached the entrance to the forest. They had found no clues along the road so far, so both figured the answer must lie in the forest.
Before entering the forest, Ash asked Yuta, "Do you know which Pokémon groups live in there?"
"The ones I know of are Pidgeot, Butterfree, Beedrill, Poliwhirl, Noctowl, Heracross, Pineco, and Spinarak."

Ash and Yuta headed toward the center of the forest, searching for signs of Long-Tailed Excavator.
"Cyndaquil, Quick Attack!"
"Wooper, Mud Shot!"
Cyndaquil started running, his body shining brightly as he charged toward the wild Pokémon like a bolt of lightning, while Wooper fired lumps of mud ahead.
"Yuta, what's going on? Why are wild Pokémon attacking us? Isn't this the path you usually take?" Ash shouted to Yuta during the battle.
"Yeah, I just walked along this path this morning. I don't know either." At a loss, Yuta kept scratching his head.
"We can't use Cyndaquil's fire moves in the forest. That limits my options too much. Let's retreat first. Cyndaquil, Lava Plume!"
After Cyndaquil released thick smoke, Ash immediately wrapped his body in Aura to enhance his physical abilities. Then he scooped up Cyndaquil and fled the battle with Yuta.
