Steve was now the only person left inside the shield.
Naturally, he was not someone who would sit back and wait to die. Even in desperate circumstances, he always wanted to fight for that last sliver of possibility.
All the disastrous consequences now were caused by Supergiant.
In other words, as long as Supergiant was killed, everything would be resolved.
And the only person who could do that was Natasha.
Natasha transferred most of the energy in her body to Steve, keeping only enough to perform Shadow Shift.
Steve, in turn, infused Holy Light into Natasha to protect her mind.
At the very least, it would let Natasha hold out for a few seconds.
And that would be enough time for Natasha to swing her daggers a few times.
However, well laid as the plan was...
It went smoothly at first. Natasha successfully slipped behind Supergiant without a sound.
But just as she was about to deliver a righteous Backstab to Supergiant, her body froze.
Yes, she was controlled once again.
The Holy Light Steve had infused into her might as well not have existed. In just an instant, she became a captive of Supergiant's mind.
It was even easier than the first time.
In fact, the more vulnerable someone's mind was, the easier it was for Supergiant to control them.
And those she had controlled before would have even greater vulnerabilities in their minds. In other words, they were easier to control again.
Unfortunately, Steve did not know that.
Fortunately, though, Natasha had already transferred almost all her energy to Steve. After using Shadow Shift once to get behind Supergiant, she had exhausted it completely.
Seeing this, Steve was utterly out of options.
All he could do was stay inside the shield alone, struggling to hold on.
