Nick Fury had never expected that, after he discovered that young man had been exposed, the other party would actually come knocking on his door.
"What do you want?" Nick Fury fixed his piercing eye on a masked man, his imposing presence surging outward as he tried to overwhelm him.
But clearly, the person facing him was no ordinary character either.
"Relax, Director. I really don't have any ambitions!" the Masked Man said.
His voice came from beneath his mask, sounding somewhat muffled and rather androgynous. With his cloak covering his entire body as well, no one could tell whether he was a man or a woman.
"You have no ambitions? Then can you explain why you posted information about the Black Order online?"
Nick Fury stared hard into the eyes behind the mask, as though trying to see into the heart of the person before him.
"All right, Director, let's just talk normally. These tricks don't work on me," the Masked Man said calmly.
However, after saying that, he found that Nick Fury was still radiating an overbearing presence, so he shrugged helplessly.
"All right, all right, I'll be blunt. Times have changed. This is the age of Transcendents.
"You're a Transcendent yourself, and a top-tier one at that, so you should know perfectly well, Director. Against a third-tier Transcendent, firearms and explosives have very limited effect. They certainly couldn't withstand a nuclear bomb, but with conventional weapons, it's practically impossible to kill a third-tier Transcendent without employing the right strategy.
"So one third-tier Transcendent is roughly equivalent to a nuclear deterrent. You have no objections to that, do you, Director?"
Nick Fury said nothing.
But that silence was already a tacit acknowledgment.
Because he knew perfectly well that what the Masked Man had said was the truth.
