"True."

He took the few pages of diary entries and flipped through them, seeing the first sentence:

"Today, I met a woman. She looked very strange and kept following me, refusing to leave. I got so annoyed that I beat her up."

Huh?

I feel like I've read this diary entry before.

Chapter 378: Cheek!

Edward continued reading:

"Ah, I've been here for so many days now. So boring, even more boring than before. The food tastes bad, too. I don't like it here!"

"That woman has been following me for over ten days now. I've beaten her up several more times, but she still refuses to leave or speak. What a strange person."

"Today, that woman actually spoke. I thought she was mute. She told me her name..."

At this point, Edward finally remembered. These were the diary pages he had taken from the gang boss's safe after wiping out the Zimang Party-they were suspected to have come from another Transmigrator Senior.

Unfortunately, he had only read the first two pages before Bernadette suddenly appeared and took the diary away-Edward suspected that was when Bernadette had set her sights on him.

Edward gently turned the diary pages. When he reached the second-to-last page, the first words that met his eyes made his pupils contract:

"Her name is Cheek."

Cheek?

Edward took another careful look. It really was Cheek!

Cheek, a seemingly ordinary name, was anything but ordinary in the world of Lord of the Mysteries. It represented a Sequence 0 true god, the Primordial Demoness!

But, but this diary entry actually said that a woman named Cheek kept following "me," and that "I" had even beaten Cheek up several times?!

These few simple sentences had an absurdity to them reminiscent of postmodernist magical realism, short-circuiting Edward's brain a little.
