"I don't know. He doesn't trust me. I'm not even sure Tarik is his real name."
Edward couldn't help frowning at this.
A moment later, he asked again, "Was the Demoness who killed people at the banquet at Roselle Gustav's house last time one of yours?"
"Yes."
"Why did she go there to kill people?"
"To commit several murders at once, kill Klein Sparrow, who was renting 7 Rose Street, amid the chaos, and prevent anyone from connecting his death to the 'haunted house' at 7 Rose Street."
The answer genuinely surprised Edward. He had never imagined that the Demoness back then had actually been targeting him.
"Why kill Klein Sparrow?"
"On the surface, it was to 'help' Tarik get rid of the tenant at 7 Rose Street. In reality, it was to deliberately attract attention and force Tarik to move that thing, to see whether I could find where the other things were hidden."
"Wouldn't he realize your true intentions?"
"In his eyes, I'm just a lunatic who will stop at nothing for the Lord."
Edward suddenly spotted something he had overlooked. "Wait. Since that Tarik and the 'important figure' behind him don't want anyone moving into 7 Rose Street again, why didn't they just buy or rent it themselves? Surely they aren't so poor they can't afford that?"
"Tarik said doing so would attract certain people's attention and defeat the purpose."
"Which people?"
"I don't know."
After pacing back and forth for a while, Edward found that he had asked everything he needed to. Some of his questions had been answered, but there were even more whose answers he still didn't know.
He performed Dream Divination once more and learned what "Tarik" looked like-a blond man with ordinary features, dressed in a knight's outfit.
