A bucket-thick bolt of silver-white lightning struck from above, hitting the dragon squarely. With a crack, the enormous ice sculpture shattered, then vaporized into scalding steam under the intense heat.
Mobet murmured, "Shatas, that lightning strike... was much scarier than the ones you usually use."
Surprise entered Shatas's eyes. "It felt as if Her Majesty the Queen had used it herself."
"He's clearly a Beyonder of the Door Pathway. Maybe he recorded that ability from your Calamity Queen. In that case... he might really be on good terms with your queen."
For Shatas, this was unquestionably good news, and her expression immediately softened considerably.
A few minutes later, the steam gradually dispersed. Only a charred corpse remained where the Frost Dragon had been. It lay sprawled like a small black hill, its head drooping against the ground, utterly lifeless.
But Edward noticed something wrong. First, after that lightning strike, a dragon turned into an ice sculpture could not possibly have left an intact corpse. Second, according to the original story, the King of the North's corpse would turn into a set of double doors leading outside after he died.
Yet all this time had passed, and the dragon's corpse was still lying there intact. Nothing had happened.
Naturally, this made Edward wonder whether his earlier guess had been right: had the absence of two people caused a bug and broken the plot?
The thought had barely surfaced when the charred dragon corpse suddenly began to tremble slightly. Immediately afterward, its blackened outer layer rapidly peeled away, revealing dreamlike scales that looked like condensed ice crystals.
It's actually still alive?
Did adding a demigod like me give this final boss a patch buff too?
That's cheating, isn't it?
Soon, all the blackened material on the dragon's body fell away, restoring its
