As the crimson light faded from his vision, Emlyn returned to his room.
He was in a small town in the northwestern corner of West Balam. This was where Roselle had first arrived to colonize the Southern Continent after opening the sea route, so for many years, it had been the first place colonizers set foot when they came to the Southern Continent. By now, however, it had quietly become the Sanguine's headquarters.
Knock, knock, knock.
There was a knock at the door.
"Come in."
A man and a woman entered, one in tight leather clothes and the other in a crisp suit. They were Akasha and Rallard.
"Were you constipated again, Emlyn?"
"I was just sleeping."
Akasha came over and hooked an arm around his neck. "At a time like this, you were still in the mood to sleep?!"
"W-what happened?"
Startled, Emlyn hurriedly asked, "Did something happen?!"
Rallard frowned. "Akasha, stop scaring him!"
"Hmph!"
Akasha snorted and sat on the sofa with her legs crossed. "I just don't understand why the Progenitor chose him to convey the divine will! It always used to be me!"
Rallard's expression darkened. "How many times have I told you? The one who contacted you back then wasn't the real Progenitor!"
"Why wasn't mine the Progenitor, but Emlyn's is?! I think mine was the real Progenitor!"
"And so you secretly sacrificed Grandfather's treasured Sealed Artifact to that being?"
Akasha curled her lips. "Just because of that? Then isn't it even more of a joke for the 'Progenitor' to put a good-for... a very young person like Emlyn in charge of the war against the Rose School?"
Rallard sighed. "Anyway, the dukes of our race have all acknowledged it. What else do you want?"
"..."
Akasha muttered for a while before looking at Emlyn.
