As the youngest Potions Master in the worldwide Wizarding World, Snape had an unquestionable talent for Potions. What few people knew, however, was that he was equally gifted at spellwork.
His fondness for and study of Dark Magic led many wizards to consider him a Dark Wizard, and there was really no denying it. If Dumbledore had not vouched for him back then, he would certainly have been counting lice in Azkaban now.
After reaching adulthood, Snape had devoted most of his energy to Potions, because the subject held special memories for him. As a result, he had neglected his research into magical power and spells.
Even so, Sectumsempra, which he had developed as a student, was still considered by almost every wizard who knew of it to be the most threatening piece of Dark Magic invented in the past twenty years.
The spell left no obvious signs, either visible or audible.
The damage it inflicted could not be healed by ordinary magic, and it inhibited regeneration. If not for the countercurse that could heal its wounds, it could even have been classified as forbidden magic.
Yet even this powerful piece of Dark Magic, which had inflicted deep wounds on the monster before him, had its damage healed in just a few breaths.
The monster's resistance to magic and ability to counter jinxes were frighteningly strong.
Snape could sense that he would probably have a very difficult time dealing with this bizarre monster alone.
Even a fire dragon would probably have been much easier to handle.
What also irritated him somewhat was that relying on the older students to take the younger ones away did not seem particularly feasible.
The younger students were all sprawled on the ground, most of them unconscious. Even quite a few of the older students
