"So Black got hold of the password first, and then got a Prefect Badge as well?" Hearing the prefect say he had lost his Prefect Badge, Harry understood, but also felt a little uncertain.
Wasn't that a bit too much of a coincidence?
"Perhaps he happened to get the password, then found a way to steal a Prefect Badge?" Percy offered his guess, but after thinking it over, he felt it seemed just as far-fetched.
"Isn't that a bit too much of a coincidence?" Ron voiced Harry's thoughts.
"It is rather a coincidence. But at present, that seems to be the only possibility." Professor McGonagall shook her head.
"For the next week, I will arrange the new passwords myself. I will also discuss replacing the guard with Dumbledore. But as things stand, although I consider Sir Cadogan's passwords somewhat inappropriate, this intrusion cannot be considered his fault."
Harry and the others nodded. That was true.
Lee Jordan might have been a goofball, but there was absolutely no way he would deliberately give the password to Voldemort's henchman, the Death Eater Black.
Harry did not think that sixth-year prefect would do so either. Harry knew that the prefect came from a Muggle family. Whatever others might do, he would never side with Voldemort and the Death Eaters.
Since neither of them could have done it, and according to Lee Jordan and the sixth-year prefect, both things had only just been lost, there was that to consider. Lee Jordan was not particularly reliable, but someone chosen to be a prefect was relatively trustworthy.
So either Sirius Black had the ability to steal things all over Hogwarts, or it was a coincidence.
Could Black really be roaming all over Hogwarts stealing things?
Harry thought it unlikely. If he really had that ability, he
