The entire Wizarding World was buzzing over the Quidditch World Cup currently underway.
The Ministries of Magic of several major magical powers, however, had another headache to deal with. Compared with the Quidditch World Cup, which had a history of only a little over five hundred years, another tournament went back more than seven hundred-although it had been suspended for a very long time.
The Ministries of Magic across Europe were all very interested in reviving this tournament. The countries home to the three great schools, in particular, were pushing hard for it.
There was one condition, however. They all wanted the tournament held in their own country, at their own school.
That made it something worth arguing over.
The British Ministry of Magic firmly believed that this tournament should be held at Hogwarts. They had the strongest grounds: the previous two tournaments had been hosted by Beauxbatons and Durmstrang respectively. It should have been Hogwarts' turn.
Beauxbatons disagreed. They believed that times had changed and the rotation should start afresh. Given the current circumstances, France was much safer than the United Kingdom and better suited to hosting a major event.
Besides, Beauxbatons had larger school grounds.
Durmstrang had no particularly convincing reason to offer, but they wanted to host it at their school too.
If it had only been three countries arguing, it would not have been particularly troublesome. This year, however, things were slightly different.
The International Confederation of Wizards had received earnest requests from the American Magical Congress and the Australian Magical Congress: Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Nagadainaf Magic School also wanted to take part in this tournament.
Encouraged by the American Magical Congress, Castelobruxo in South America and Nanyang Magic Academy in Singapore wanted to participate as well.
