Wang Yang frowned as he continued watching.
A figure in red and gold soared into the sky, countless missiles shooting out of his armor.
They struck countless Chitauri descending from above.
But there were simply too many Chitauri. They seemed endless.
The Chitauri that the red-and-gold Iron Man shot down were barely a drop in the ocean.
Dark figures poured out of that black hole in droves, then scattered across New York.
Terrifying booms and explosions rang out. The moment the Chitauri landed, they launched their destructive assault.
Explosions, crashes, and screams rose one after another.
In an instant, they filled the once-bustling New York.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
All kinds of laser cannons fired, each blast landing with a deafening explosion.
They inflicted countless casualties.
Ordinary people had no way to fight back against the Chitauri.
At that moment, New York seemed to have become hell on earth.
Boom!
An explosion sent flames shooting into the sky.
A Chitauri aircraft exploded in midflight.
A red-and-gold figure shot out of the flames.
Iron Man kept firing energy blasts from his hands, shooting down the Chitauri around him.
He also used his superior maneuverability to send some nearby Chitauri crashing into skyscrapers before they could react.
"Stark, we're at your three o'clock!"
Just then, a voice came through. Was that Black Widow?
"Where have you been? Did you go out for takeout?"
Tony cracked a joke, then continued, "Head to Parker Street. I'll lead them over and give you some targets!"
Hearing his teammates' voices made Tony Stark breathe a sigh of relief. He could never stop this disaster on his own.
Especially now, with countless alien troops pouring down from the sky into New York.
Even if they had been a horde of primitive tribesmen, killing so many would have been difficult, let alone aliens equipped with high-tech weapons.
Tony led them around in a loop, then flew toward Parker Street.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
After a series of violent explosions, that squad of Chitauri was wiped out.
Yet even so, plenty more remained in the sky.
"Sir, we have more enemies incoming!"
JARVIS, the artificial intelligence in Tony's armor, issued a warning.
"All right, let's go meet them!"
Meanwhile, Hawkeye spotted the God of Thunder fighting Loki atop the tower.
Before Hawkeye could open fire from his aircraft, Loki pointed his scepter.
A powerful beam of light shot skyward and struck the aircraft's engine.
With his aircraft damaged, Hawkeye had no choice but to make an emergency landing.
Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow stepped out of the cabin together.
Just then.
An enormous shadow appeared inside the massive portal in the sky.
A hundred-meter-long warship, enormous and whale-like, flew out of it.
Then it passed over their heads.
As it went, Chitauri kept leaping out of it and charging into the nearby buildings.
Captain America pressed his communicator. "Tony, are you seeing that?"
"I'm seeing it, but I'm still processing it! Has Banner shown up?"
Captain America said, "Banner?"
"Let me know when he gets here!"
Iron Man circled the enormous craft, then said, "JARVIS, find its weak point!"
Countless civilians on the ground were in danger.
Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow kept fighting the Chitauri and rescuing civilians.
Thor descended to join the fight.
Captain America laid out how they would handle the situation.
Just then, Banner arrived on a little scooter.
"Tony, he's here!"
"Banner?"
"That's right!"
"Then tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you!"
The others did not understand what he meant yet.
Just then, Black Widow spotted Tony Stark flying toward them.
Behind him, the enormous alien warship followed Stark over.
In an instant, it sheared a huge building in half.
"I don't see how that's a party!"
Black Widow gave a wry smile.
Banner turned to look at the enormous monster charging toward them.
Captain America said, "Dr. Banner, now would be a really good time for you to get angry!"
Banner looked back with a smile. "That's my secret, Cap! I'm always angry!"
As he finished speaking, Dr. Banner's skin turned green, and his clothes tore apart as his body expanded.
In an instant, he became a green giant three meters tall.
Now transformed into the Hulk, Dr. Banner threw a punch.
Bang!
With a single punch, Hulk brought the enormous alien warship to a halt.
Its momentum sent the rear of the enormous warship swinging upward.
"Hold on!"
Iron Man spoke, then raised his hand and fired a missile!
Boom!
The alien warship was blasted to pieces.
The Avengers breathed a sigh of relief at the sight.
But on the surrounding buildings, countless Chitauri had already raised their weapons, ready to attack.
High in the sky, inside the portal.
More Chitauri kept pouring out.
More enormous alien warships surged through as well.
Even the Avengers felt their hearts sink at the sight.
"Look!"
Black Widow spoke with a frown.
"Call it, Captain!"
Stark frowned as well.
Captain America surveyed the scene and said, "All right, listen up!"
"Until we close that portal, we need to contain them!"
"Barton, I want you on that rooftop!"
"Keep an eye on the battlefield and report enemy movements!"
"Stark, hold the perimeter. Don't let these monsters get beyond three blocks! If you can't turn them back, blast them to pieces!"
"Mind giving me a lift?"
After hearing Captain America's orders, Hawkeye turned to Iron Man.
"Sure. Hang on tight, Legolas!"
Then Iron Man shot into the sky with Hawkeye.
Captain America was not finished giving orders. He turned to the God of Thunder and said, "Thor, find a way to bottleneck that portal and slow them down. Call down lightning and fry those monsters!"
The God of Thunder nodded, swung Mjolnir, and soared into the sky.
Captain America turned to Black Widow. "You and me, we'll hold the ground and keep their troops occupied!"
Finally, he turned to Hulk. "Hulk!"
The Hulk turned to look at Captain America.
Captain America pointed upward. "Smash!"
The Hulk flashed a wicked grin and leaped into the sky.
But despite all the orders Captain America had issued, there were simply too many aliens.
Even with their efforts to intercept them, they could not cover every angle.
With New York spanning more than a thousand square kilometers, they could not possibly protect it all.
Where there were no Avengers, ordinary people could only despair and wait for death to come...
Watching this, the faces of the Masters of the Mystic Arts grew grave as well.
