"Mr. Scamander, pleased to meet you. I'm Kane Penter. Thank you for putting in a good word for me with Headmaster Dumbledore last time."
Halfway through speaking, Karn suddenly noticed something strange about Newt Scamander's gaze. He did not reply, either; he simply kept looking at him.
"Mr. Scamander?"
Only when he heard Karn call him did Newt Scamander come back to his senses. He glanced at the Kneazle crouched on the floor beside him, then smiled at Karn. "Sorry, Mr. Pent. I'm getting old, and I often find myself spacing out."
"That's quite all right, though you seem very alert, Mr. Scamander."
After exchanging a few pleasantries with Newt Scamander, Karn followed him to the fireplace in the sitting room, where black tea and refreshments had already been prepared.
Newt Scamander's wife was not home. There were only the two of them in the house.
Not long after they sat down, Newt Scamander asked, "Mr. Pent, I imagine you came to see me about something else. Does it concern Dumbledore?"
"This has little to do with Headmaster Dumbledore. It's a personal matter."
Karn smiled, then continued, "Of everyone I know, you're the only one with connections to the Romania Dragon Sanctuary, Mr. Scamander, so I was hoping you could introduce me."
"The Romania Dragon Sanctuary?"
Karn nodded. "Yes. I want to secure all the fire dragon materials produced by the Romania Dragon Sanctuary, so I'd like you to introduce me to the people there."
"I see. The Romania Dragon Sanctuary does sell a fair amount of fire dragon materials every year. Raising fire dragons isn't easy, and the annual expenses are considerable. The support provided by the various Ministries of Magic isn't enough to cover the sanctuary's costs, which was why Bill decided to sell some fire dragon materials
