Terumi Shin looked back and discovered that it was someone they had brought from the docks in the Land of Water. Genji had assigned all those people to him, so there should not have been any problems. Perhaps Karn was a little nervous.
"Mr. Harry, that's someone we brought with us-"
Before Terumi Shin could finish, Karn pointed a finger, and the ground beneath the person Shin had just mentioned suddenly shifted. The hard concrete road turned to mud, while several flowing Stone Pillars rose up to bind him.
Jiraiya naturally would not stand by and let himself be caught. He immediately controlled the man to leap high into the air. After landing, he emerged from the man's shadow and quickly formed hand seals to unleash a Fire Release ninjutsu.
"Fire Release: Flame Bullet!"
A scorching fireball burst from Jiraiya's mouth, hurtling toward Karn and Terumi Shin.
He really is an enemy!
Terumi Shin's face flushed a little. He had just been about to swear that there could not possibly be anything wrong with Genji's people, only for reality to deliver a hard slap to his face.
Facing Jiraiya's Fire Release attack, Terumi Shin immediately tried to counter with Water Release, but Karn raised a hand to stop him. He continued using Transfiguration, turning the concrete on the ground into a shield that blocked Jiraiya's Fire Release.
The next second, Karn abruptly vanished. Using Apparition, he moved to a spot more than twenty meters behind Jiraiya. Since he made almost no sound, and Jiraiya was still shaking off the immobility caused by the Toad Flat Shadow Manipulation Technique, Jiraiya failed to notice Karn behind him.
During his leap and landing, Jiraiya had already memorized his surroundings. As far as he remembered, there would be no one behind him.
