"Karn, are you back?"
"What is it, Carl?"
Karn was a little surprised. He had not contacted this high school friend in a long time, and their last contact had been by email. He, Carl, and Connor had set up a securities company and a private equity fund together. They were doing very well, and his knowledge of the course of history had earned them quite a lot of money.
They were gradually making a name for themselves on Wall Street, and some people wanted to join their private equity fund.
"I've kept your game progress saved all this time, but I know you've been busy lately. You even found someone to attend your college classes for you. It's a shame you didn't go, though. There are lots of pretty ones."
Carl was still the same familiar chatterbox. If no one stopped her, she could go from game levels to the Gulf War, and somehow even connect the two.
Karn hurriedly interrupted her. "Carl, get to the point. Keep my game progress saved. I'll definitely finish it with you next time."
"All right. It's actually about the banquet the president is holding. Connor and I received invitations too, but Connor said they weren't after us. The person he really wanted to invite was you."
Although Carl rambled a lot, she listened to Karn and quickly explained why she had called.
"A banquet? Is it about the Middle Eastern battlefield?" Karn asked casually. "I've already received an invitation. I'll be going, but as a representative of the pharmaceutical company. Who invited you?"
"Those few people on Wall Street. I heard they're interested in pharmaceutical companies. They've probably set their sights on you. Connor asked me to warn you that you'd better be careful around them."
Carl told him everything she knew.
