"Oldtown cannot be held," Marwyn said. "The storm is raging, and sea dragons are appearing too."
Gendry, Daenerys, Dick the Bowmaker, Earl "Bronze" Yohn Royce, Earl Randyll Tarly, Ser Garlan Tyrell, Earl Jason Melicent, Earl Jack Clebbe, Grey Worm, and the others had all seen it too.
Ser Barristan Selmy stood in the tent with several of his White Knight brothers in two rows: Balon, Robar, Gulian, Roland, and Daenerys's two female guards.
The vision showed a mass of dark clouds. Oldtown's houses and towers were being destroyed, enormous black sea dragon tentacles sweeping through them, unstoppable wherever they went, as though shaking loose kelp and seaweed.
High in the sky, fleeting black shadows and green sphinxes were all breathing fire.
The Red Priestess Melisandre saw shifting visions in the golden, snow-white, and red flames, and began to murmur:
"The towers beside the sea crumble beneath a black tide rising from the abyss. Shadows gather into skulls, skulls dissolve into mist, and two bodies joined in lust roll and claw at each other. Through the curtain of flames, an enormous winged shadow flies across an azure sky."
Moqorro spoke next. "Most striking of all is a tall, twisted creature with one black eye and ten long arms, racing across a sea of blood."
Gendry listened to the magic masters' analysis. Perhaps they had all seen the prophecy, but focused on different things.
Gendry stroked the blue Just Maid at his waist. Though the Citadel and Oldtown had played all their hidden cards, they were no match for Euron Crow's Eye.
"House Hightower has dragons too? And the Citadel has sphinxes," Daenerys said in surprise.
"Your Grace, Oldtown's dragons have the shape but not the substance. Those are not true dragons, but magic dragons within stone. The sphinxes are the same,"
