The distance between them abruptly closed. Gendry drew Lady Justice, and blue Sword Aura flared.
Tywin swung his Gilded Sword, but its blade snapped on impact. Everyone gasped.
The blade nearly cleaved Tywin in two, but first severed his sword hand.
Tywin's magnificent armor proved utterly useless. Beneath Just Maid's light, it parted like smooth paper, and blood and tissue spilled out.
But Tywin had no intention of fighting to the death. Instead, he dropped his weapon and retreated through the agony.
Gendry's blade turned again. "These blows are for those who died at your hands. My father, my kin. Those commoners, those lords."
Tywin gave a muffled grunt. This was no duel. This was slaughter.
But arrogance-arrogance was Gendry's opening. Tywin could not help entertaining a glimmer of hope.
"Do it!" Tywin shouted without looking back, no longer paying attention to Gendry's blue blade pursuing him relentlessly.
"Do it now!"
A spark suddenly appeared beneath the high platform, and a smell like rotting green fruit erupted with a thunderous boom.
Kevan Lannister waved his hand, and a spark flashed.
"Wildfire!"
"It really is wildfire!"
Flames shot skyward, seemingly about to engulf the king.
"I lost, but what of it?" Tywin felt a triumphant joy, though his face remained pale.
"Supreme Sword!" Gendry drew his purple longsword and swung it down hard.
A path seemed to part through the middle of the surging green flames, and Gendry raced across the high platform.
It was as though he danced amid the flames, yet not a spark touched him.
"Open!" Gendry roared, the Supreme Sword's light surging like a tide.
The blade and rings absorbed the green flames, and the fire steadily dwindled.
"Protect the king! Protect the king!" Ser Barristan Selmy hurriedly charged through the lingering heat, followed by everyone else.
