Ch. 122The egg hatches × The headless monstrosity

Ginta defeated two Spiders and hurried back toward Mizaistom as Dio arrived, but the giant egg hatched into a headless monster. Its first exposed face released a strange fragrance that forced Ginta and Mizaistom to hold their breath, while Dio struggled to keep breathing and summoned torrential rain to disperse it.

  • Ginta used his two forms to injure the Spiders, then left them behind and rushed toward Mizaistom.
  • Ginta saw Dio approaching the prison ruins just as the giant egg began to crack.
  • Mizaistom retreated as the egg shattered, revealing a headless, four-armed monster with eight human faces on its chest and back.
  • The monster's first face opened its eyes and released a strange fragrance, so Ginta and Mizaistom stopped breathing.
  • Dio summoned torrential rain with [Atmosphere Creator] to weaken the fragrance, but realized the rain might also prevent him from breathing.

Ch. 123Vincent to the Rescue × A Fierce Struggle

Ginta, Dio, and Mizaistom fought the headless monster, whose fragrance disoriented Dio and whose attacks nearly overwhelmed Ginta. Vincent arrived to help and revealed that Cheadle had stayed at the hospital to handle new patients infected by the Fungus.

  • Ginta struck the monster, but it counterattacked and sent him flying before launching a barrage of blows.
  • Vincent’s green Ripple Nen briefly paralyzed the monster, giving Ginta time to escape its attacks.
  • Mizaistom restrained the monster with several prohibitions, while Dio struggled against the fragrance’s effects.
  • Dio recovered by using Ripple to clear the toxins from his body, and Vincent arrived after being sent by Cheadle.
  • Vincent explained that Cheadle had stayed at the hospital because people infected with the Fungus had appeared there.

Ch. 124[Beast of Heaven and Man] × Eight Faces

Ginta and the others struggled to defeat the headless monster, whose faces granted it powerful abilities and whose torso was protected by special Nen Aura. As Ginta prepared to activate [Beast of Heaven and Man], Dio proposed a way to remove the monster’s protection and rushed into the prison ruins with Vincent.

  • Ginta tore off the monster’s arms, but its legs quickly regenerated, and an explosion from one of its faces sent Ginta flying.
  • The monster hurled a Nen-enhanced stone at Mizaistom, who stopped it with his red card, giving Ginta an opening to attack.
  • Ginta and Dio struck the monster in succession, but Ginta realized its torso was wrapped in a resilient layer of Nen Aura and that more of its faces were awakening.
  • Ginta called for everyone to retreat and announced that he would activate [Beast of Heaven and Man].
  • Dio offered to dissolve the monster’s Nen Aura, then ran into the prison ruins and called Vincent to assist him.

Ch. 125Steel storm × the curtain falls and a sigh

Dio, Vincent, Ginta, and Mizaistom defeated the many-faced monster by stripping away its Nen defense with a storm of Ripple-infused iron and finishing it with Ginta’s attack. After the ruined prison and its dead inmates were left behind, Dio suddenly remembered something and hurried off.

  • Dio infused a pile of iron objects with Metallic Ripple Nen and asked Vincent to sweep them at the monster with his wind ability.
  • Vincent used Flying Delta to form a tornado that hurled the electrified iron objects into the monster, dissolving its Nen defense.
  • Ginta struck the exposed monster through the chest while Dio and Mizaistom restrained it, and it died and turned to ash.
  • Mizaistom surveyed the prison ruins and reflected on the inmates who had died in the collapse.
  • Ginta, Dio, and Vincent joked about making East Lake and the split tower a tourist attraction, while Mizaistom said it might remind people of crime’s consequences.
  • Dio suddenly remembered something, turned, and hurried away.

Ch. 126Blocking the Bullet × The Eternal Hero Memorial Day

Dio found Hisoka dead after the Phantom Troupe escaped, but recovered his Nen Beast and discovered it had blocked the fatal bullet, allowing Hisoka to revive. Dio gave up pursuing Chrollo’s group and returned to the city, where Cheadle invited him to Hero Memorial Day.

  • Dio followed faint wheel tracks and found Hisoka’s corpse, then pulled his Nen Beast from the bullet wound.
  • Hisoka revived after the Nen Beast expelled a brass bullet, and he told Dio that Chrollo had escaped by wheeled boat with Uvogin, Nobunaga, and Machi.
  • Dio abandoned the pursuit and headed back toward East Lake while Hisoka decided he would have to eliminate Chrollo’s companions before challenging him.
  • Dio returned to the Residential Area and found the streets nearly empty because most people had gone to celebrate Hero Memorial Day.
  • Cheadle explained that she had stopped the Snowman fungus outbreak with a specially cultivated fungus, then invited Dio to join the celebration.

Ch. 128A snowy year might not mean a good harvest × Party

Dio and Cheadle went to Pati City’s Hero Memorial Day celebration, where Cheadle remembered attending the festival with her father as a child. As they reached the monument at the center of the crowded square, Dio spotted something and walked toward it, with Cheadle following.

  • Cheadle explained that Hero Memorial Day’s traditional feast had grown into a lively party, and she continued toward the square despite her exhaustion.
  • Cheadle remembered celebrating the day with her father, Mr. Yorkshire, and grieved that he would not return for the square’s final memorial day.
  • Dio and Cheadle reached the crowded square, where citizens sang, danced, and gathered around bonfires as snow began to fall.
  • A young girl invited Dio to dance, but Cheadle sent her away and complained about the locals’ behavior on the holiday.
  • Dio spotted something beneath the monument in the center of the square and walked toward it with Cheadle following.

Ch. 129Cheadle and Dio × Candy giveaway!

At the Heroes' Memorial, Dio reassured Cheadle that her father knew her name was there, then helped restore the townspeople’s annual candy giveaway. As the snowy celebration continued, Cheadle invited Dio to dance, but he teased her about their height difference.

  • Dio pointed out that Cheadle Yorkshire’s name was free of dust, and she realized someone had been keeping it clean.
  • A child and passersby lamented that the usual candy giveaway had vanished along with familiar parts of the square.
  • A middle-aged man arrived with workers and children to hand out Hardtack Candy, and Cheadle gave Dio a piece made from syrup from the exploded Syrup Factory.
  • The townspeople celebrated with candy, dancing, and folk songs as Dio watched with Cheadle.
  • Cheadle asked Dio to dance, but he gestured at their height difference and left her embarrassed.

Ch. 130A world of people × Each to their own future

After the director’s death, Ouwei reflected on how Dio had saved him and found himself likely to become the Syrup Factory’s new director. Meanwhile, Chrollo and the surviving Phantom Troupe members left Pati City, mourning their dead and unable to learn who had killed them.

  • Dio and Cheadle sat together in the snow, watching the crowd and the sky in a rare moment of quiet.
  • Ouwei spoke with a worker about the dead director and recalled that Dio had stopped him from taking his own life and inspired him to rally the workers.
  • Ouwei regretted not learning Dio’s name and not giving him and his little brother candy; nearby, the little beggar enjoyed his candy by a fire.
  • A purple-haired woman drove the bullet-marked van carrying Chrollo, Uvogin, and Nobunaga away from Pati City.
  • Chrollo mourned Shalnark, Kuhua, Shizuku, and Pakunoda, and realized Hisoka had died before revealing who had killed them.

Ch. 131Candy for everyone × The end of Pati

Machi left behind the name Yank and asked Shiba to stop being an assassin and come with him. As Vincent considered the Syrup Factory director's murder and Mayor Isori's betrayal, Luren kept the factory boiler running and received candy from a homeless man.

  • Machi told Mizaistom he would become a Crime Hunter under his own name, and Mizaistom let him leave.
  • Machi met Shiba, who complained that his van had been stolen, and invited him to come along and quit being an assassin.
  • Vincent learned the Syrup Factory director had resold supplies to other countries and considered having Beyond replace Mayor Isori.
  • Vincent received Dio's invitation to have candy for Hero Memorial Day but stayed at the Empire State Building.
  • Luren repaired the factory boiler to keep 121 homeless people warm, and a homeless man brought him candy, which he ate.

Ch. 132Farewell × An unexpected call

Dio left Pati City after Mumuzawa called with information about [Zoo], the organization that had targeted him, deciding to investigate it before it could threaten him again. Cheadle stayed with Mrs. Yorkshire, who revealed she had offered Dio five hundred million Jenny to stay away from her daughter.

  • Mrs. Yorkshire spoke privately with Dio at Pati City Airport while Cheadle watched suspiciously.
  • Mumuzawa called Dio with news about the information he had requested on [Zoo], prompting him to leave Cheadle and return later for the Vice Chairman Election.
  • Dio considered the danger of [Zoo] noticing his growing reputation and decided to investigate the organization before it made another move.
  • Dio boarded the airship and saw Cheadle wave goodbye before she left with Mrs. Yorkshire.
  • Cheadle asked Mrs. Yorkshire what she had told Dio, and Mrs. Yorkshire admitted she had offered him five hundred million Jenny to stay away from Cheadle.

Ch. 133[Manipulation] × Hidden Gem

Dio discovered that the [Flawless Sage] gem steadied his mind and hid it inside [The World]. He planned to guide Mumuzawa’s Nen training during the trip and began his daily practice.

  • Dio examined the gem from Kuhua’s corpse and concluded that it acted on the soul or mind.
  • Dio placed [Flawless Sage] inside [The World] and confirmed that its effect continued.
  • Dio considered Mumuzawa’s progress as a [Manipulation] Nen user and planned to guide her training and help her gain standing with her mother.
  • Dio entered [Ren] and practiced Ripple breathing.

Ch. 134Landing in Kakin × Mumuzawa's new look

Dio arrived in Kakin and was escorted to the Twelfth Prince Mumuzawa’s residence. He reunited with Mumuzawa, whose new shorter hairstyle surprised him, and followed her back toward the palace.

  • Dio chatted with a proud father aboard the airship and parted from him after landing at Flin Airport.
  • Taliska, a private first class serving the Seventh Queen, greeted Dio and escorted him to the palace complex.
  • Dio entered the Twelfth Prince’s residence alone after Taliska’s assignment ended at the gates.
  • Mumuzawa jogged out to greet Dio in athletic clothes, and Dio remarked that her hair looked shorter.
  • Mumuzawa asked if the change looked bad, and Dio reassured her before following her toward the palace.

Ch. 135Having fourteen children × The dark basement

Dio visited Mumuzawa at her private palace and reasoned that Kakin’s succession could involve more than the king’s children. Mumuzawa showed him a hidden basement and revealed a finished yarn doll that looked like Dio.

  • Mumuzawa showed Dio her [Ten] and explained that each prince had a palace, with fourteen palaces in the complex.
  • Dio questioned how a female king could bear fourteen heirs and concluded that the Succession War probably was not limited to the king’s children.
  • Dio asked Mumuzawa about her [craft], and she led him through her palace to a basement she had discovered as a child.
  • Mumuzawa explained that she had found bones and bloodstains in the basement, then had the room cleaned and made into a storeroom.
  • Mumuzawa turned on the lights and showed Dio a humanoid yarn doll that appeared to resemble him.

Ch. 136A prince's dark side × Playing cute to get away with it

Dio watched Mumuzawa’s Nen Ability create a doll modeled after herself and learned that it embodied her loneliness, old regrets, and possessiveness. Mumuzawa said the doll had no special ability beyond being cute, while Dio sensed an unspoken desire in its lifeless eyes.

  • Mumuzawa hurriedly hid the doll that had appeared on the floor, then pretended to search for it as another doll approached through the corridor.
  • Mumuzawa explained that she had developed her Nen Ability, Song of Silk, through weaving and that it had unexpectedly brought the doll to life.
  • Dio studied the doll’s bloodstains and inferred that it reflected Mumuzawa’s hidden loneliness and wounded inner self.
  • Mumuzawa recalled burning her beloved blue rabbit toy after her mother told her to give it to Malayan, and said she had regretted it immediately.
  • Mumuzawa said the doll could do nothing beyond being cute, but Dio noticed what seemed to be a deep desire in its eyes.

Ch. 137Those of noble birth × 11 Zoos

Dio examined Mumuzawa’s developing Doll ability and read a report about the many organizations in Kakin called [Zoo]. The investigation had stalled amid interference, and the Seventh Queen invited Mumuzawa and Dio to lunch.

  • Dio warned Mumuzawa to protect her Doll in case damage to it affected her, then noticed she treated her Dolls as living beings and called them he or she.
  • Dio asked Mumuzawa about the [Zoo], and she led him to her study to consult a detailed intelligence report.
  • Mumuzawa gave Dio the report, which listed at least eleven hidden Kakin organizations named [Zoo] and three uncertain leads.
  • Dio found that unknown forces had covertly obstructed the intelligence team's investigations, making further inquiries risky.
  • Two maids arrived and invited Mumuzawa and Dio to join the Seventh Queen for lunch.

Ch. 138Nen Abilities Are a Double-Edged Sword × Waiting

Mumuzawa’s Nen Ability began to trouble her as she prepared to meet her mother, the seventh queen Sewanchi. Dio accompanied her to lunch, where Sewanchi welcomed them and prepared to question him after the meal.

  • Two maids invited Dio and Mumuzawa to lunch with Sewanchi, and Mumuzawa worried that her mother might try to recruit Dio to protect Marayam.
  • Mumuzawa fell into a disturbing daze as memories and her aura grew unstable, but she changed the subject and went to get dressed.
  • Dio suspected Mumuzawa’s Nen Ability was outpacing her self-control as they left for the palace lunch.
  • Sewanchi scolded Marayam for trying to eat before the guests arrived and waited for Mumuzawa and Dio.
  • Mumuzawa arrived in a blue gown with Dio, and Sewanchi asked them to sit, intending to question Dio after the meal.

Ch. 139Assassination! × An extraordinary poison

At dinner, Dio sensed poison in the wine and discovered that Mumuzawa and Prince Malayan had already eaten poisoned food. He made them vomit, but the poison rapidly overwhelmed Mumuzawa, who bound her thread around his wrist before losing the ability to move.

  • Dio sensed danger from the wine and warned the room that the food was poisoned.
  • Dio used Ripple to make Mumuzawa vomit, then leapt toward Prince Malayan and made him vomit as well.
  • Mumuzawa grabbed the captain’s gun barrel and deflected his shot while Sewanchi stopped the soldiers from firing at Dio.
  • Dio realized Mumuzawa’s stronger digestion had made her more vulnerable to the poison and called for a doctor as Sewanchi did the same.
  • Mumuzawa’s tongue swelled and her vision blurred, so she bound a thread around Dio’s wrist before slumping against him.

Ch. 140Investigation × Judicial Bureau

Dio agreed to investigate the poisoning of Princes Mumuzawa and Malayan with the Judicial Bureau, while trying to keep Mumuzawa alive and decipher the thread she had given him. At Anci Hospital, he met Caesar from the Judicial Bureau and began asking what evidence its investigators had found.

  • Sewanchi told Dio that the chefs involved in the princes’ meal had killed themselves with poison and asked him to join the investigation to avoid becoming its target.
  • Dio agreed to investigate and vowed not to let Mumuzawa die, but found that his Ripple could only temporarily strengthen her vitality and could not counteract the poison.
  • The ambulance brought Mumuzawa and Malayan to Anci Hospital, where Dio met Caesar from the Judicial Bureau.
  • Dio summarized the poisoning and the chefs’ deaths for Caesar, then asked how much information the Judicial Bureau had gathered.

Ch. 141A one-day deadline × Following Mumuzawa's thread

With only one day to investigate the poisoning and assassination plot, Dio and Caesar followed Mumuzawa’s thread back to her residence to find the informer. Caesar exposed the gatekeeper as a liar, and Dio began torturing him for a confession.

  • Caesar told Dio that the Judicial Bureau had one day to investigate the poisoning, and they set out to pursue Dio’s lead.
  • Dio and Caesar followed the thread Mumuzawa had left to her residence and concluded that the informer was likely among its guards.
  • Dio questioned the gatekeeper, but his expression gave Dio no clues.
  • Caesar shot the gatekeeper in the knee and claimed his ability confirmed the man was lying.
  • The gatekeeper refused to confess, so Dio used Scarlet Ripple to burn the wounded leg to charcoal.

Ch. 142Good dog × Doll or Nen Beast

Dio and Caesar learned that a guard had been reporting Mumuzawa’s movements to Muhayelich, then headed for the north gate to find the assassination plotter. As they left, the Mumuzawa Doll appeared on Dio’s hand as a Nen Beast, and the deadline to catch the culprit stood at twenty-two hours.

  • Dio forced the guard to reveal that Muhayelich had paid him to monitor Mumuzawa, and Caesar confirmed he was telling the truth.
  • Caesar shot the guard, explaining that the guard and his family would face execution for taking part in a plot against a queen and prince.
  • Dio burned the guard’s body to ash, then noticed the thread on his wrist leading to the Mumuzawa Doll.
  • The Mumuzawa Doll transformed into a Nen Beast and clung to Dio’s hand, but showed no signs of threatening him.
  • Dio and Caesar drove toward the north gate, the only place with casinos, with twenty-two hours left to catch the assassination planner.
