Ch. 306The man who had been waiting, brainwashing, and a generous boss

Joey met Ging at the Ai Yi Yi Family’s base, where Ging explained that Kakin’s King Nasubi Hui Guo Rou was Brain and that Brain’s power involved brainwashing Nen users into believing they were organs or body parts. Ging’s probing irritated Joey, but Ging offered him five hundred million Jenny, and Joey eagerly agreed to answer more questions.

  • Joey entered the room at Morena’s invitation and was shocked to find Ging waiting for him.
  • Ging connected Joey’s experience in East Gorteau and his hidden time-related ability to the danger facing Black Whale 1, while Joey refused to use his secret ability.
  • Joey said Brain either did not exist or was the current King, and Ging revealed that Nasubi Hui Guo Rou had created the fourteen organs and body parts tied to the Princes.
  • Ging explained that past Succession War survivors had been brainwashed, and that Brain’s ability could make Nen users believe they were organs or body parts.
  • Ging admitted he had been testing Joey’s memories and abilities, then offered him a bank card containing five hundred million Jenny as compensation.
  • Joey accepted the card and welcomed Ging to ask him anything.

Ch. 307Payment, assignments, and positions

Joey and Ging assembled allies to assassinate Nasubi Hui Guo Rou and stop Kakin’s plan, while Joey entered the Upper Tier to await the attack. Hisoka proposed teaming up to target the Phantom Troupe, but Joey insisted Nasubi remained the priority.

  • Ging told Joey that Nasubi Hui Guo Rou had to die and outlined a plan involving the Hunter Association, the Phantom Troupe, and the Kakin Mafia.
  • Joey contacted Zigg, who agreed that the Zoldyck Family would help attack Kakin rather than flee toward the Imaginary Continent.
  • The next morning, Joey’s clone followed Ging while his real body traveled toward the Upper Tier and entered the Second Floor in disguise.
  • Joey observed the chaos below and decided to wait for the Hunter Association and Mafia to create an opening to reach the First Tier.
  • Hisoka asked Joey to team up against the Phantom Troupe, but Joey rejected the proposal and said Nasubi Hui Guo Rou was the primary target.

Ch. 308Red Drumbeat Passage!

Joey followed the mass evacuation from the lower tiers onto the cruise ship as soldiers fell into chaos under a red influence and deadly drumbeats. After reaching the ship’s lower level, he kept his abilities concealed and moved out as Nen users fought the bones breaking through the ceiling.

  • Red corridors agitated the soldiers near the Third Tier passage, driving them to mistake civilians for enemies and shoot each other until alarm sounds and drumbeats intensified the fighting.
  • Nen users charged toward the drumbeat’s source, but translucent threads cut down two King's Army fighters, and a white figure killed a sniper who shot the thread-controlling woman.
  • On the Second Floor, powerful figures’ private soldiers attacked Kakin’s forces, while the Hunter Association and its allies opened a route toward the cruise ship and prepared a teleportation array.
  • Domi shaped a stairway through the ceiling as Gasha-A Family Nen users reinforced the passage and sealed seawater leaks; Joey chose the passage and joined the crowd boarding the ship.
  • In a cargo hold aboard the cruise ship, bones broke through the ceiling, and Hunter Association and Mafia Nen users guarded the passage as Joey left to begin his own operation.

Ch. 309The Kent brothers dealt with Kobayakawa

The Kent brothers assessed and began destroying the bones spreading across the Cruise Ship, while Kenyi prepared to deal with the skin blocking the United Army in the V Area. Kobayakawa proposed heating the skin to breach the King's Army's defenses, and the attack began to char it.

  • Kenyi summoned the Kent brothers to determine whether removing the bones would endanger the floors above, and they confirmed the bones could be destroyed without collapsing the ship.
  • The Kent brothers began burning, grinding, and pulverizing the bones after failing to find the entity producing them.
  • Kenyi left the bone-removal effort to deal with the skin covering the V Area, where the King's Army's gunfire pinned down the United Army.
  • Kobayakawa explained to Yan Mei that intense heat could dry out the skin and proposed breaking through a wall to enter the V Area.
  • The United Army created a semi-enclosed space and used Nen users and flamethrowers to heat the skin until it grew rough and began to char.

Ch. 310Rocket Launcher, Saccho Koyakawa, Worry Threads

Koyakawa helped the United Army breach the VVIP Area, then realized the King's Army soldiers were feeding aura to the skeletal monster. He used his Worry Threads ability to search the area and found the being behind the skeletons.

  • Koyakawa observed that the burned skin was regenerating too slowly to block the United Army, and an ally fired a custom Nen-infused rocket launcher at the wall.
  • The rocket and a mysterious vortex exploded, destroying the wall and opening the VVIP Area to the United Army.
  • The Shu-U Family and Gasha-A Family forces charged inside while the Ai Yi Yi Family stayed behind to destroy the skin.
  • Koyakawa noticed the soldiers' aura flowing into the ceiling and deduced that the VVIP Area was feeding the skeletal monster.
  • Koyakawa expanded his En and revealed Worry Threads around thinking beings, then found the being he was seeking.

Ch. 311White Skeleton × Interference × Empty Quarters

Kenyi’s group confronted the white skeleton, whose destruction caused the Cruise Ship’s bone structures to collapse. Joey entered the Prince District and found the princes had been relocated, then headed for Hanzo’s room to look for clues about the missing Hunters.

  • Kenyi attacked the white skeleton, while Kobayakawa used threads of worry to suppress its anger and halt its retaliation.
  • When Kenyi grabbed Ye Caihua, bone spikes erupted through Ye Caihua and pierced Kenyi’s arm, so Kobayakawa severed the infected limb.
  • The Kent brothers’ Nen Beasts burned the white skeleton to ash while Kobayakawa stopped it from advancing, and the bone piles across the Cruise Ship also turned to ash.
  • Joey avoided falling by grabbing a wall, broke through into the Prince District, and found the Sixth Prince’s room deserted with signs of fighting and tampered traces.
  • Joey left for District 14 to search Hanzo’s location for clues, while United Army troops advanced toward the King’s Area.

Ch. 312Phosgene, a method of destruction, and a plunge

As phosgene and other poisonous gases spread through the Cruise Ship, Yan Mei, Koyakawa, and Kenyi tried to find a way to survive while Joey used Weather Report to clear smoke around himself. Joey plunged from the Middle Tier into the exposed cargo area and realized Kakin had anticipated their arrival from the beginning.

  • Flames and poisonous black smoke spread through the Cruise Ship’s Lower Level, while Koyakawa told Yan Mei that the hull was sealed by black aura and the gas threatened everyone aboard.
  • Koyakawa, Yan Mei, and Kenyi recognized that burning vinyl chloride could produce phosgene, and Kenyi sent a protected Nen Beast toward the Lower Level after communications failed.
  • Koyakawa feared King Nasubi Hui Guo Rou might have planned to kill the survivors with poison gas and disease, while Joey used Weather Report to clear the smoke around himself.
  • Joey recalled that District 14 had been burned so thoroughly that even metal was reduced to blackened traces, suggesting a Nen ability might be responsible.
  • Joey formed his Spacesuit and leaped from the Middle Tier through the exposed cargo area, concluding that Kakin had accounted for their arrival from the start.

Ch. 313Reunion × The Last Chance × Beyond Saving

Joey investigated the fire and black aura aboard Black Whale 1, then joined the Zodiacs as they planned to break through the Upper Tier’s teleportation blockade. Meanwhile, Cheadle evacuated Beyond from the Lower Level, and Pariston and Ging gathered outside the ship, believing its passengers could no longer be saved.

  • Joey discovered that the flames burned black aura and toxic-producing material, and concluded that extinguishing the fire was the best way to disrupt the disaster.
  • Joey reunited with Mizaistom, Saccho Koyakawa, Ginta, Botobai, and Morel, while the Zodiacs shared their findings about the teleportation blockade and spreading fires.
  • Botobai and the others decided to try breaking through the Upper Tier’s spatial blockade with another Space Type ability rather than risk touching the black aura.
  • Cheadle asked Beyond whether he knew more about Kakin’s plan, but Beyond denied knowing anything and called his departure their last chance.
  • Cheadle ordered the Hunter Association members to withdraw, and Knov led Beyond through a passage to Hide and Seek.
  • Pariston received Saiyuu’s message that Beyond was safe as Ging and other allies appeared near the submarine, saying the people aboard Black Whale 1 were beyond saving.

Ch. 314A Way Out, the Deck, Victory and Defeat

Ging and the Hunter Association evacuated people from the Black Whale 1 while Knov searched the smoke-filled Middle Tier for the missing group. Joey and the others reached the Upper Tier, where Nasubi and several princes gathered them beneath a dome, and the chapter ended as the United Army fought off a King's Army ambush.

  • Ging's group left the Black Whale 1 aboard a small vessel, while Chrollo noticed that Hisoka, Joey, and Kurapika were missing.
  • Knov used Hide and Seek to evacuate people in batches, then entered the smoke-filled Middle Tier and found messages from Ginta, Mizaistom, and Joey.
  • Joey's group reached the Upper Tier aboard the rising King's Area and saw Nasubi seated above them with several princes gathered nearby.
  • Joey realized a hidden Nen ability tied to the seed urn ceremony had brought the princes together and that defeating them without killing them might be the only way to avoid empowering Nasubi.
  • The First Prince ordered the King's Army to attack, but Joey's En and abilities helped the United Army withstand the guns and grenades and return fire.

Ch. 315The rising cruise ship, countdown, and bombardment

Joey, Hisoka, and Kurapika pushed through the King's Army and searched the cabins for the missing Queens, Brain, and their allies as the cruise ship rose toward the black aura. Joey located an enormous eye and a black-robed figure, while Botobai's attack and the spreading black smoke left the ship's factions facing a rapidly shrinking window to act.

  • Mizaistom and Morel estimated that the rising cruise ship would reach the black aura in about ten minutes, and Botobai attacked the Kakin Princes after Benjamin rejected negotiations.
  • Joey joined Hisoka and Kurapika, and the three charged through the King's Army toward the cabins while Mizaistom's phone signal began to fail.
  • Joey passed Kacho and her companions, then used Weather Report and his coins to help the group break into the cabins.
  • Hisoka revealed that flashbangs could interrupt the feeling of being watched and that grenades could destroy the floor to narrow their search, so the trio split up and began blasting through the cabins.
  • Joey sensed a familiar aura near a stronger, unfamiliar one, followed the signal from his Gold Experience Ladybugs, and found an enormous eye beside a black-robed person.

Ch. 316The person beneath the cloak, the descent, and the discovery

Joey and Hisoka destroyed the giant eye and killed the controlled Second Queen as the black aura closed in on the ship. They rushed to find Kurapika and discovered him beside the barely living Eighth Queen, whose body radiated black Post-Mortem Nen.

  • Joey recognized the cloaked woman as Second Queen Duazul and realized that Nen was controlling her.
  • Joey used a hummingbird coin to attack Duazul while Hisoka struck and destroyed the giant eye.
  • Joey trapped Duazul with the Weather Nen Beast and erased her with Killer Queen's First Bomb Ability.
  • As the black aura continued to close in, Joey and Hisoka noticed Kurapika was missing and ran to find him.
  • Joey and Hisoka found Kurapika protecting himself with a gas mask and Nen beside the half-destroyed Eighth Queen, who was emitting black Post-Mortem Nen.

Ch. 317The Eighth Queen's Completion and Resolve

Joey revived the Eighth Queen by restoring her brain, and her recovered memories suggested that both she and Brain were connected to the black aura. He arranged for Nina to control the queen’s Post-Mortem Nen and attempt to absorb the aura, while the queen agreed to act to save Woble.

  • Joey concluded that First Bomb had destroyed Brain’s connected body parts, then used Gold Experience to restore the Eighth Queen’s brain.
  • The Eighth Queen regained her memories and recognized Joey, while Nasubi Hui Guo Rou reacted with surprise and worry upon seeing her alive.
  • Joey asked the Hunter Association members for a Manipulation user and Nina volunteered to control the queen.
  • Joey proposed using the Eighth Queen’s Post-Mortem Nen to absorb the black aura, and the queen agreed because she wanted to save Woble.

Ch. 318A promise, white aura, and no talent for attack?

Joey and the United Army attacked Nasubi’s coffins after the Eighth Queen’s post-mortem Nen transformed the black aura into white light. As the battle continued and Nasubi remained difficult to damage, Joey suspected the missing First Queen, Unma, might be part of his plan, but he did not know where she was.

  • Joey promised the Eighth Queen he would protect the Fourteenth Prince, and Nina used iron rods to control the Queen as she touched the black aura.
  • The Eighth Queen’s post-mortem Nen purified the black aura into spreading white light, while Nasubi unleashed more black aura and the United Army moved to protect her.
  • Botobai’s white-coated Wrathful Vajras fought the Thirteenth Prince’s Guardian Nen Beast, then defeated it as the Hunter Association attacked the coffins on the dome.
  • The United Army used Skeleton Chariots and ranged Nen attacks to destroy the five coffins while fighters engaged Nasubi and the princes’ Guardian Nen Beasts.
  • Joey noticed that Nugui was missing and considered whether Nasubi had sent him to contact Unma, the First Queen.
  • Joey wondered where Unma might be hiding as the battle against Nasubi continued.

Ch. 319A gauntlet, down below, and the First Queen

Joey, Hisoka, and Kurapika searched below the risen King's Area and found the First Queen protected inside a space-like barrier. Joey questioned her allegiance, while Hisoka entered the barrier under fire, leaving the confrontation unresolved.

  • Joey concluded that Nasubi could use the dead princes' Nen Beasts again and that the princes needed protection.
  • Joey went down from the deck to search the King's Area, accompanied by Hisoka and Kurapika.
  • Joey detected more than thirty people in a smoke-free area below and led the others through the floor to investigate.
  • The three found the First Queen at the center of a barrier that kept out the poisonous smoke, and Joey asked whether she was friend or foe.
  • Joey's flames failed to penetrate the barrier, while Hisoka entered it and dodged a volley of bullets with his Nen.

Ch. 320Sudden news, a turn for the worse, despair?

Joey learned that the Upper Tier had fallen to traitors and the black aura, then received the dying Fugetsu and the Fourteenth Prince, Woble. As he tried to reach the Upper Tier and decide how to protect Woble, Joey was suddenly transported back into the black smoke.

  • Hisoka rebounded the soldiers’ Nen-coated bullets and attacked two powerful Enhancers while Joey tested whether abilities could cross the barrier.
  • Piyon warned Joey that devoted followers of the King had infiltrated the Hunter Association, the Mafia, and the Princes’ entourages, so Joey left Kurapika and Hisoka to face the First Queen and hurried back toward the Upper Tier.
  • Fugetsu emerged through her ability’s door carrying Woble, told Joey that traitors had brought down the Upper Tier and that Kacho was gone, then died despite Joey’s efforts to save her.
  • Joey considered whether Woble could enable him to activate Bites the Dust, but the barrier space below vanished from his En and he decided to seek survivors in the Upper Tier.
  • As Joey carried Woble upward, he crossed the boundary between the Middle and Upper Tiers and suddenly reappeared amid the black smoke.

Ch. 321Time Reversal amid the Calm, Arrangements, and Blood Beads

Joey used Bites the Dust to rewind time after despairing over the sealed Upper Tier, then exposed the First Queen’s hidden location and sent warnings and requests to the Hunter Association. As Joey raced to find Hisoka and Nina, Ging noticed a mysterious bleeding wound and left his group to meet someone.

  • Bites the Dust silently rewound time, returning Joey to the Lower Level without the Fourteenth Prince.
  • Joey decided to expose the First Queen to the United Army, sent an encrypted warning to Piyon, and blasted a hole into the hidden Storage Area beneath the floor.
  • The United Army spotted the First Queen, while Joey slipped away and learned that Cheadle planned to withdraw several Zodiacs and Knov from the ship.
  • Joey ran toward the Middle Tier to find Hisoka and asked Mizaistom to keep Nina, a Manipulation specialist, behind.
  • Ging saw blood beads appear from a cut on his arm and left Mikhail’s group to meet someone.

Ch. 322Ritual, encounter, helper

Nasubi began the Kakin Succession War ritual as the Princes appeared on the Upper Tier, while Joey searched for a way to reach the Upper Tier and found Hisoka and Ging. Joey explained to Ging that he had turned time back one hour, with twenty-one minutes already elapsed.

  • The Princes appeared on the Upper Tier, and Nasubi called on them to kill the intruders before sacrificing himself to create an egg that vanished into the urn.
  • Joey waited outside Room 7 and contacted Hisoka, who agreed to help in exchange for a fight on the Imaginary Continent.
  • Hisoka arrived with a backpack, and Joey sensed Ging approaching them.
  • Ging explained that he had stayed aboard Black Whale 1 because Joey's time-reversal ability had left a wound that dripped one drop of blood per minute.
  • Joey silenced Hisoka and told Ging that he had turned time back one hour and that twenty-one minutes had passed.

Ch. 323Plotting, dividing tasks, and splitting up

Joey and Ging reasoned that Kakin was using the United Army to eliminate Princes and planned how to control who reached the King's Area. As the ship's barriers began to fail and Joey's ability's time limit neared, Joey and Hisoka headed down to gather supplies while Ging went to inspect the machinery and contact allies.

  • Joey defended Fugetsu's warning about a rebellion, but Ging cautioned that her information might be limited and explained that the Succession War ended with one Prince becoming King as the former King died.
  • Ging concluded that Kakin was using the United Army to kill Princes, since Princes could not directly attack one another without violating Kakin law and risking their eligibility for the throne.
  • Joey pointed out that spies in the Upper Tier could observe who entered the King's Area, while Ging proposed using the ascent to remove unwanted people from it.
  • Joey and Ging agreed that Ging would inspect the machinery, check on the First Queen, and contact Mizaistom and the others, while Joey and Hisoka gathered weapons and supplies.
  • Hisoka led Joey toward the Lower Level to find another bag of supplies as the United Army broke through the skin barrier and twenty-four minutes passed since Joey activated Bites the Dust.

Ch. 324Ging's choice: Satotz's support-type Nen!

Ging investigated the shrinking barrier around the First Queen and chose to sever its connections rather than attack her directly. Satotz used his support-type Nen ability, Overgrowth, on the First Queen and a hidden enemy, exposing himself as clones began attacking the United Army.

  • Ging saw that the First Queen controlled the machinery beneath the barrier and worried that attacking her could disrupt his plan with Joey.
  • Ging went beneath the barrier and severed several lines, prompting the First Queen to expand the barrier and revealing a hidden enemy to Satotz.
  • Satotz identified the enemy among the clones and activated Overgrowth on the First Queen and the weapon controlling the clones.
  • The First Queen ordered Satotz killed, and the enemy created more clones that charged Satotz and the United Army.

Ch. 325Satotz, the First Queen, and elimination

Satotz tried to defeat Weapon and the First Queen, but she transported everyone inside her barrier to an unknown space before he could stop her. Meanwhile, Joey and the United Army reached the Upper Tier, where they faced the Kakin King’s forces and began their attack.

  • Satotz evaded Weapon’s clones while waiting for Weapon to exhaust his Nen, but Weapon used Ming’s corpse to regain strength and hold Satotz back.
  • The First Queen pressed a button that expanded and contracted her barrier, drawing everyone inside it into a separate space before she collapsed unconscious.
  • Joey and Hisoka gathered ammunition in the Lower Level, then returned with the main force to the King’s Area, where Ging joined them.
  • As the King’s Area rose toward the Upper Tier, Ging and Joey helped the Zodiacs expel people they did not trust from it.
  • The group arrived on the Upper Tier and found Nasubi, the Princes, and the Kakin King’s Army waiting for them.
  • Ging told Joey to leave the Princes to him, and Joey charged the King’s Army alongside Hisoka and Kurapika.
