Kenta took a few crumpled sheets of paper from his pocket and handed them to Baicang. One look at the chaotic black dots and scribbled-out writing, and Baicang sent Kenta flying with a kick.
"You're trying to fool me with this crap! What a loyal friend you are!" Baicang thought Kenta had done it deliberately, refusing to give him information about the other gangs.
"You've got me wrong, sir! I wrote down everything I knew and everything I found out!" Kenta knelt on the ground, wailing.
Originally, he had wanted to join forces with the other gangs, take Baicang down the next time they met, and force him to hand over the antidote.
But yesterday morning, he had heard rumors that Onibi Maru had been killed by a monster. He was the one who had told Baicang where Onibi Maru was, and then he had heard that news the very next day. There was no way he could believe Baicang had nothing to do with it, so he could only resign himself to his fate.
"What kind of dogshit handwriting is this? Who's supposed to understand it?! Didn't you go to school?" Baicang threw the scraps of paper at Kenta's feet.
"No. I've been running the streets since kindergarten..." Kenta said quietly.
Baicang: "..."
You really are something else. Even Chen Haonan has nothing on you.
Left with no choice, Baicang made Kenta tell him everything he knew, including details about the Yamato Group he had mentioned. He also threatened Kenta to improve his handwriting before next time. If he showed him these scribbles again, Baicang would make him shit until his rectum prolapsed.
He casually tossed Kenta the ginger-flavored candy he had bought, then set off in the direction Kenta had indicated.
According to Kenta, he did not know where the Yamato Group's headquarters was either. He only knew that they ran several casinos and made money through gambling, loan-sharking, and the like. They had plenty of money and manpower, and were the only force in the area that could rival Onibi Maru. Apparently, they had even hired a hero from the Hero Association to act as their protector.
"A hero too? Interesting..." Baicang gave a cold snort, his moonlit figure darting between the tall buildings.
Arriving near one of the upscale casinos run by the Yamato Group that Kenta had mentioned, Baicang pulled on the slightly loose suit he had just stripped off someone and cast a grateful look at the unconscious man in the corner.
Then he headed toward the casino, only to turn back shortly afterward. He tugged the tie off the neck of the man, who was now wearing nothing but his underwear and tie, and fastened it around his own neck.
"Almost forgot. No entry unless you're properly dressed."
While Baicang had been pondering how to get inside at the casino entrance, he had happened to spot this drunken man harassing girls on the street. He had immediately struck in the name of justice, knocking the man unconscious, then decided to borrow his clothes to get in.
The man was rather shy and said nothing even after passing out, so Baicang took that as agreement.
"Excuse me, sir. Please remove your mask." Seeing Baicang wearing a suit with a bat mask over his face, the two security guards found him suspicious and stopped him at the entrance.
"What?! Are you looking down on me?!" Baicang started shouting at the door.
"No, sir. Please keep your voice down." The guards had not expected Baicang to suddenly start yelling. His shout startled the people coming and going nearby, and they all moved away.
"Do you think I'm broke?! I've got loads of money, I'll have you know!" Baicang pulled out his wallet, took out the lowest-denomination bills inside, and tossed them onto the ground one by one.
"Sir, please stop this, or we'll have to ask you to leave." Seeing that Baicang was being unreasonable, the guards prepared to use force.
Just then, the casino manager heard the commotion at the entrance and hurried out to investigate. "What's going on?" a tall, thin man in a suit demanded of the two guards.
"Mr. Jing Zhong, someone's causing trouble here," a guard answered immediately.
The strange combination of suit and mask inevitably brought certain wealthy women's peculiar tastes to mind. Jing Zhong nearly lost his composure, but his solid professionalism prevailed, and he smiled at Baicang. "Sir, is there something you're unhappy with?"
"These two made fun of my unique style and wouldn't let me in." Baicang planted his hands on his hips and stamped his foot in displeasure.
"..."
"I'm terribly sorry. That was our mistake. Please come in." Ignoring Baicang's exaggerated performance, Jing Zhong bowed in apology and gestured for him to enter.
Baicang nodded in satisfaction, picked up a bill from the ground, and stuffed it into Jing Zhong's hand, calling it a tip before striding inside.
Looking at the money in his hand, Jing Zhong could not keep the corners of his mouth from twitching.
"Mr. Jing Zhong, why did you let him in? He's obviously suspicious," a guard beside him asked in confusion.
Throwing the money away, Jing Zhong said unhurriedly, "We welcome anyone who's a customer. Lord Black Tiger happens to be here tonight, too. Whoever this man is, if he dares cause trouble, he's dead."
"Lord Black Tiger is here too?!" the guard exclaimed in astonishment.
Once inside, Baicang took in the casino's lavish decor and reflected that crime really did pay. Bad people always seemed to have plenty of money.
Too bad I couldn't get a proper scene going at the entrance. This casino's customer service is actually pretty good, Baicang thought as he continued farther inside.
At the chip counter, he handed his wallet straight to the young woman in a kimono and exchanged its contents for some chips, then headed toward the center of the casino.
He walked up to a gambling table and slowly sat down. His eyes fixed on the sexy female dealer before him, he placed all his chips on the table. "All in. I'm betting small."
He decided to imitate a classic movie scene: use his superb gambling skills to win a few tens of millions first, infuriate the boss into coming out from behind the scenes, and then take them all down in one fell swoop.
As for why he bet all his chips, all he could say was that going all in was a kind of wisdom.
"Certainly." The dealer smiled faintly. Although she did not know how this pervert in the strange mask had gotten inside, that was none of her concern. Once everyone at the table had placed their bets, she raised the dice cup and began shaking it in the air.
"Bravo!" Baicang clapped in admiration.
The dealer nearly lost her grip on the dice cup. She shot Baicang an irritated glance, then opened the cup a moment later.
"Six, five, four. Fifteen, big!" Looking at the dice on the table, the dealer gave Baicang a sweet smile.
Smack! "You cheated!" Baicang shot to his feet in fury and slammed his hand on the table. He had lost everything on the very first bet of his life. The Yamato Group must have rigged it.
Someone must have tipped them off that he was coming to pick a fight, so they had deliberately done this to spite him. How vicious!
Hearing Baicang's roar, the dealer stopped smiling and withdrew to one side with a cold expression. Several men in black also approached from around them, trying to seize him.
"You dared cheat me out of my money! You're dead!" Baicang dropped the act. He was here to pick a fight.
Under the dealer's terrified gaze, he sent one of the approaching men flying with a punch, then stomped the gambling table before him in half. At the sight of this horrifying scene, everyone nearby fled in fear.
She had wanted to run too, but when she saw Baicang walking straight toward her, terror sent her collapsing to the floor, unable to move.
"Where's your boss?" Baicang did not give her a hard time. His purpose today was to confiscate their assets! No, to avenge Sachiko!
"Please don't hurt me... They happen to be here today. I... I'll take you to them."
The dealer hurried to her feet and led Baicang toward a private room deep inside the casino. He casually dealt with every thug they encountered along the way.
Seeing that no one could stop Baicang, the dealer grew even more frightened, her legs trembling as she led the way.
In front of a wooden door, Baicang knocked out the three thugs standing guard, then looked at the dealer behind him. "This is it?"
"Yes. Lord Kawaguchi invited Lord Black Tiger here today to discuss something. They usually use this room." The dealer lowered her head, not daring to look at this walking menace.
"Fine. That's all I need from you. You can go."
Watching the dealer practically sprint away in high heels, Baicang wondered whether she had trained too.
Then he kicked the door open.
