  • Marines entered the ruined palace, found the king and Ari dead, and decided to alert headquarters and contact Garp.

Ch. 16Beware: A Lost Swordsman Ahead!

Garp learned that a suspected Celestial Dragon and many others had been killed in the Sage Kingdom, and he headed there to investigate. Meanwhile, Norton’s crew prepared for a storm as Nami secretly saved money to reclaim Cocoyasi Village from Arlong, and the lost swordsman Roronoa Zoro became stranded on an island nearby.

  • An adjutant told Garp that the Sage Kingdom’s king, a suspected Celestial Dragon, guards, and CP Agents had been killed, and Garp set out for the kingdom.

  • Zoro refused to surrender the tiger, so Sanosuke attacked him with a kunai and used the forest shadows to gain the advantage.
  • Zoro pursued Sanosuke through the trees, and when a branch snapped beneath Sanosuke, Zoro struck him with Oni Giri and wounded his chest.
  • Sanosuke drew his Ninja Sword as Zoro tied on his bandanna, and Norton sensed the dangerous fight before leaving Nami with his fishing rod and rushing to the forest.

Ch. 19The Wager

Nami tried to leave with the treasure she had saved to buy Cocoyasi Village, but Norton stopped her and wagered that Arlong would break his promise. After Mongula identified Norton as his attacker and the Five Elders ordered a bounty for him, Nami returned to Cocoyasi Village with one hundred million Beli and confronted Arlong, leaving his response uncertain.

  • Two days later, Nami arrived at Cocoyasi Village aboard the White Pearl, found Nojiko absent, and dug up a chest of treasure from the Orange Grove.
  • Nami carried one hundred million Beli to Arlong Park and told Arlong that Cocoyasi Village was free as agreed.

Ch. 20Victory and Defeat

Nami discovered that Arlong had never intended to honor their agreement, so she joined Norton’s crew and asked him to help avenge Bellemere. Norton then led Nami, Zoro, Sanosuke, and the Redbeard Pirates into Arlong Park, where the fight began.

  • Arlong’s men claimed Nami’s treasure was worth only ninety-five million Beli, and Arlong mocked and assaulted her when she challenged their count.
  • Nami buried the treasure again, grieved in the orange grove, then returned to Norton and offered him the money in exchange for help taking revenge on Arlong.
