Ch. 21Being alive was the greatest cause for suspicion! Crossing the Bone-Eater's Well!

Javier blamed Chris Smith for betraying the Smith Family and stealing the Shikon Shard, while the family ordered surveillance to continue. Li Xia and Kagome crossed the Bone-Eater's Well into the Sengoku Era, where Li Xia felt his dormant magical power awaken.

  • Javier told the Smith Family elders that Chris Smith had survived the plane crash and fled with the Shikon Shard, while the family speculated that the shard had driven him to betray them.
  • The elders learned that the plane's black box was missing and ordered their people to monitor Li Xia's businesses and family.
  • Li Xia and Kagome prepared supplies and received farewells and warnings from Kagome's family before entering the Bone-Eater's Well together.
  • Li Xia and Kagome arrived in the Sengoku Era, where Li Xia sensed the magical power in his body becoming active near the Sacred Tree.

Ch. 22Teaming Up and Changes!

Li Xia joined Kagome and Inuyasha’s search for the Shikon Shards after winning Inuyasha’s trust by explaining his stance toward half-demons. He improved life in Kaede’s Village and planned to build bonds with the group, which headed east toward a new danger.

  • Kagome introduced Li Xia to Inuyasha and explained how he had sealed the demon that attacked her grandfather.
  • Li Xia clarified that he was no expert fighter and held no prejudice against kind demons or half-demons, easing Inuyasha’s wariness.
  • Li Xia helped improve Kaede’s Village’s waterwheels and farming methods while seeking the villagers’ trust.
  • Li Xia considered joining the group an opportunity to earn their trust before Miroku, Sango, and Kirara joined them.
  • Kagome asked where to search next, and Inuyasha chose to head east, where Spiderhead demons were active.

Ch. 23A Calamity They Couldn't Escape

Inuyasha, Kagome, and Li Xia met Ogi, a girl whose parents had been killed by Spiderheads, and Li Xia warned that her story and nearby temple seemed suspicious. Though Inuyasha wanted to avoid trouble before the new moon weakened him, the group headed to the temple after Ogi injured her ankle.

  • Inuyasha caught Ogi after a Spiderhead attacked her and she fell from a cliff, but she turned hostile when she saw his dog ears.
  • Ogi told Kagome and the others that Spiderheads had killed her parents and attacked nearby villages, and Kagome urged Inuyasha to help her.
  • Inuyasha asked whether Kagome had sensed a Shikon Shard and insisted they find a safe campsite before sunset, while Li Xia warned that Ogi's story and the old monk's temple seemed suspicious.
  • Li Xia explained that some half-demons lost their demonic power on the new moon night, and Kagome realized Inuyasha was avoiding danger because he would be vulnerable.
  • Ogi walked away toward the cliff, fell, and sprained her ankle, so Inuyasha carried her as the group set off for the temple.

Ch. 24Sneaky bastard!

Li Xia exposed the kindly old monk as the Spiderhead Leader, who had been using Ogi to lure victims and now held her hostage. As darkness fell, Inuyasha and Kagome refused to retreat, and the chapter ended just as Inuyasha’s expression changed after sunset.

  • Ogi’s sprained ankle healed when she saw her master, and she accused Inuyasha and the others of kidnapping her.
  • Li Xia threw three Premium Evil-Repelling Talismans at the old monk, revealing the demon hidden beneath his disguise.
  • Inuyasha drew Tessaiga, while Ogi stepped between the group and her master and refused to believe he was a demon.
  • The Spiderhead Leader transformed, seized Ogi as a hostage, and admitted he had killed her parents and used her to lure prey.
  • Li Xia warned the group to attack or retreat before nightfall, but Inuyasha and Kagome stayed to protect Ogi.
  • The sun set, and Inuyasha’s expression changed.

Ch. 25Inuyasha, Lend Me Your Tessaiga!

As Inuyasha’s demonic power faded on the new moon, the spider-head leader cornered the group and poisoned him during their escape. Li Xia took Tessaiga and used the Great Katsura Tree Mask’s demonic power to transform it, leaving the group with a chance to fight back.

  • Li Xia and Inuyasha attacked the spider-head leader, but the demon used spider silk and minions as shields and lost only two arms.
  • As darkness fell, Inuyasha’s demonic power waned and Tessaiga shrank, so Li Xia urged the group to retreat.
  • Kagome opened a path with a Demon-Breaking Arrow, but Ogi fell and the spider-head minions surrounded them again.
  • The spider-head leader bit Inuyasha and injected poison, leaving him unable to move until Li Xia’s Evil-Repelling Talismans forced the demon to release him.
  • Li Xia asked to borrow Tessaiga, summoned the Great Katsura Tree Mask, and used its demonic power to transform the rusty sword into a small, golden chopping blade.

Ch. 26Demoness Urasue!

Li Xia and his companions defeated the old spider, then parted ways with Ogi, while Demoness Urasue stole Kikyo’s ashes from Kaede’s Village. Inuyasha dreamed of Kikyo and, after Kagome slapped him awake, insisted that she and Kikyo were nothing alike.

  • Li Xia used talismans to charge the old spider and killed him and the Spiderheads blocking his way.
  • At dawn, Myōga removed the poison from Inuyasha, and the group left Ogi at the temple.
  • Ogi thanked Inuyasha and decided to study the temple’s notes so she could protect the area.
  • Demoness Urasue injured Kaede and the villagers, dug up Kikyo’s ashes, and flew away with them.
  • Inuyasha woke from a dream about Kikyo sealing him, stared at Kagome, and was slapped when she woke.
  • Inuyasha told Kagome that she and Kikyo were nothing alike, then refused to explain what he meant.

Ch. 27I refuse!

Li Xia resolved to seek immortality as the Shikon Shards responded to his thoughts, while Urasue’s appearance led Inuyasha to hurry back to Kaede’s Village. There, Kaede revealed that Urasue had dug up Kikyo’s grave, and Inuyasha refused to help with her request.

  • Li Xia thought about escaping mortality and pursuing immortality, causing the Shikon Shards to pulse with a faint violet glow.
  • Inuyasha and Kagome sensed a presence under the crescent moon, and Inuyasha spotted Urasue fleeing with the scent of fresh blood.
  • The next morning, Inuyasha hurried the group back to Kaede’s Village, where they found Kaede injured from Urasue’s attack.
  • Kaede led the group to the ravaged pit where Kikyo’s grave had stood and explained that Urasue had taken her sister’s remains.
  • Inuyasha refused before Kaede could finish asking him for help.

Ch. 28Inuyasha's awakening!

Li Xia pointed out inconsistencies in Inuyasha’s memories of Kikyo’s sealing, leading Inuyasha to suspect a demon had framed them both. The group pursued Kikyo’s ashes and neared Demoness Urasue, who had resurrected Kikyo in a Clay Figure but failed to summon her soul.

  • Kaede explained that graves gave the living comfort, and Li Xia questioned Inuyasha’s account of Kikyo’s attack by pointing out that Kikyo could have killed him with a Sacred Arrow.
  • Kaede agreed that a demon might have impersonated Inuyasha and Kikyo, and Inuyasha remembered sensing demonic aura before Kikyo sealed him.
  • Inuyasha concluded that a demon had trapped them both and vowed to recover Kikyo’s remains.
  • The group traveled northeast and found Clay Cocoons in a forested mountain region near Demoness Urasue’s territory.
  • Demoness Urasue revived Kikyo in a Clay Figure and tried unsuccessfully to summon her soul, while Kagome arrived nearby.

Ch. 29Kikyo Resurrected, Li Xia the Sneaky Schemer!

Urasue abducted Kagome and used her soul-extraction art to draw out the souls of Kikyo’s past life, hoping to revive Kikyo in her clay body. Inuyasha’s call caused Kikyo’s souls to escape Kagome and enter the clay body, while Li Xia rescued Kagome from the pool.

  • Urasue realized Kikyo’s soul had reincarnated and noticed Kagome’s resemblance to Kikyo.
  • Urasue destroyed the bridge, sent Li Xia and the others into the valley, and abducted Kagome.
  • Urasue bound Kagome in a medicinal pool to draw out Kikyo’s souls, but the Shikon Shard formed a barrier around her.
  • Li Xia, Inuyasha, Kaede, and Shippo reached the kiln cave, and Li Xia warned Inuyasha not to say Kikyo’s name.
  • Inuyasha called Kikyo’s name, breaking the barrier and allowing Kikyo’s souls to leave Kagome and enter the clay body.
  • Li Xia lifted Kagome from the pool as Inuyasha stared at the newly revived Kikyo.

Ch. 30Don't stop me? No, hurry and stop me!

Li Xia tried to protect Kagome after Urasue separated Kikyo’s reincarnated soul from her body, while Inuyasha remained transfixed by Kikyo’s resurrection. The chapter ended with Inuyasha restraining Li Xia as Kikyo opened her eyes.

  • Li Xia considered how earning Kagome’s and Kikyo’s trust could help him survive and speculated about Kagome’s hidden spiritual power.
  • Li Xia tried chest compressions on Kagome, and Urasue declared that Kagome was an empty shell she intended to eat.
  • Li Xia empowered himself with the Great Katsura Tree Mask and talismans, while Kaede prepared to fight Urasue.
  • Urasue claimed responsibility for Kikyo’s resurrection and ordered Kikyo to attack, as Li Xia demanded Kagome’s soul back.
  • Li Xia urged Inuyasha to stop him from attacking Kikyo, and Inuyasha tightened his grip when Kikyo opened her eyes.

Ch. 31Damn You, Naraku, You Actually Made Me Doubt Love!

Kikyo killed Urasue after breaking free of her control, then confronted Inuyasha with the belief that he had betrayed her. As Kikyo’s body began to fail and Inuyasha’s explanation did not reach her, Li Xia asked her to return the part of Kagome’s soul she had taken.

  • Kikyo struck Urasue with her spiritual power, and the old demoness burned to death.
  • Kikyo blamed Inuyasha for surviving the seal and accused him of betraying her, while Kaede explained that Kikyo had suffered the same wound that killed her fifty years earlier.
  • Kikyo’s shoulder split open and began bleeding as she confronted Inuyasha, who insisted that a demon had set them both up.
  • Kikyo rejected Inuyasha’s explanation and recalled how she had brought the Shikon Jewel to their meeting after believing his promise to become human.
  • Li Xia asked Kikyo not to harm an innocent person and to return the portion of Higurashi’s soul so she could wake up.

Ch. 32Kikyo, return to Kagome's body!

Li Xia urged Kikyo to return part of her soul to Kagome, but Inuyasha’s blunt demand for her to give it all back enraged Kikyo. After Kikyo badly wounded Inuyasha, Kaede revealed herself as Kikyo’s younger sister, and Kikyo’s anger softened.

  • Li Xia explained that Kikyo could give Kagome part of their shared soul while keeping enough to preserve her own identity and strength.
  • Kikyo confronted Inuyasha over wanting her to disappear, and Inuyasha could not deny that he wanted Kagome restored.
  • Kikyo struck Inuyasha with spiritual power and lightning, blasting holes in his Fire-Rat Robe and badly burning his shoulders.
  • Kaede intervened and told Kikyo that she was her younger sister, prompting Kikyo’s resentment to fade and her gaze to soften.

Ch. 33Kikyo, Do You Deserve to?

Kikyo’s resentment drove her to attack Inuyasha, but Li Xia challenged her and exposed how she was blaming another victim for her own choices. As Kikyo wavered and Li Xia and Kaede took the weapons from her, her homing Sacred Arrow continued pursuing Inuyasha and left him badly injured.

  • Kikyo recalled how her love for Inuyasha had weakened her spiritual power and how Kaede lost her right eye during the demon attack.
  • Kikyo took Kaede’s bow and arrows and fired a Sacred Arrow at Inuyasha, whose transformed Tessaiga reverted to a rusty blade on impact.
  • Li Xia confronted Kikyo, arguing that a demon had manipulated them and that she should blame the real culprit rather than Inuyasha.
  • Li Xia’s words made Kikyo falter, allowing him and Kaede to reclaim the bow and arrows.
  • Kikyo’s homing Sacred Arrow pursued Inuyasha, who grabbed its shaft but was left badly hurt.

Ch. 34Higurashi

Li Xia awakened Kagome, causing Kikyo’s stolen souls to return and weakening her enough to save Inuyasha from the Sacred Arrow. Inuyasha pursued Kikyo to confront her, while Li Xia took Urasue’s weapons and followed to watch over him.

  • As Kikyo’s Sacred Arrow threatened to kill Inuyasha, Li Xia tried several warnings before waking Kagome by reminding her of her upcoming math exam.
  • The souls left Kikyo’s clay body and returned to Kagome, draining Kikyo’s power and weakening the Sacred Arrow.
  • Li Xia checked Inuyasha’s severe wounds, and Inuyasha thanked him for saving his life.
  • Li Xia urged Inuyasha to pursue Kikyo and calm the vengeful spirits within her; Inuyasha then chased after her.
  • Li Xia told Kaede and Shippo to guard Kagome, picked up Urasue’s Soul-Summoning Tree branch and Sickle, and went after Inuyasha.

Ch. 35Enju! The Demon Art Legacy!

Li Xia saved Kikyo from falling and left her with Inuyasha to confront her past and the mastermind who had wronged them. He then persuaded Enju to teach him Urasue’s Demon Art legacy, and the chapter ended with Li Xia, Kikyo, and Enju preparing to begin the work.

  • Li Xia caught Kikyo as she nearly fell from the cliff and helped her back onto the path.
  • Li Xia asked Kikyo whether she would resume protecting the Shikon Jewel and what she thought of the one who had plotted against her and Inuyasha, then left them alone to talk.
  • Li Xia caught up with Enju and asked her to pass on Urasue’s Advanced Demon Art, and Enju explained that she had inherited the art and pottery-making techniques.
  • Enju described the three levels of Demon Art and the conditions for resurrecting the dead, while Li Xia recorded her instructions.
  • Li Xia explained that he wanted Demon Art for protection and to help villages, and Enju agreed to teach him.
  • Li Xia stayed behind with Kikyo and Enju, and Enju began instructing him in the steps of making a Clay Body and summoning a soul.

Ch. 36A brief time together

Li Xia studied Clay Body repair from Enju while Kikyo recovered and replenished her strength at the kiln cave. After Kikyo left, Li Xia prepared to leave as well, and Inuyasha arrived too late to see her.

  • Enju repaired Kikyo’s shoulder and, following Li Xia’s suggestion, gave her the stored souls of deceased girls to restore her Clay Body.
  • Li Xia tried to talk with Kikyo about her past and Inuyasha, but she ignored him and kept her distance as he quietly joined her at sunset over the following days.
  • After Kikyo recovered, she helped Enju tame more than a dozen Soul Collectors, and Enju gained the allegiance of five of them.
  • Kikyo left the kiln cave alone on the fourth day, and Li Xia told Enju he would leave soon after finishing his lessons.
  • Inuyasha returned two days later to find Kikyo, but Li Xia told him she had already left.

Ch. 37A Pleasant Surprise!

Li Xia reunited with Inuyasha, learned about his recent encounters, and recovered the Thunderstrike Blade. After they set out for the village, Myōga revealed he knew the Demon Slayer Village, giving Li Xia their next destination.

  • Li Xia reassured Inuyasha that Kikyo was recovering emotionally and learned that Inuyasha’s injuries and Fire-Rat Robe had healed.
  • Inuyasha told Li Xia about meeting Miroku and defeating a painter’s demon army with Kagome, then gave him the Thunderstrike Blade he had recovered.
  • Li Xia and Inuyasha left Enju and headed back to the village to retrieve supplies.
  • While they camped, Li Xia asked about demon hunters, and Myōga identified the Demon Slayer Village and offered to guide them there.
  • Li Xia decided that they would head to the Demon Slayer Village next.

Ch. 38A Request to Reforge the Thunderstrike Blade!

Li Xia persuaded Inuyasha and Myōga to visit the Demon Slayer Village for Shikon Shards and sought help repairing the Thunderstrike Blade. After warning that a powerful demon was likely gathering shards in northern Musashi Province, Myōga agreed to take Li Xia to the smith Totosai.

  • Li Xia explained that the Demon Slayers might have collected Shikon Shards and that their village could face demon attacks, so Inuyasha and Myōga agreed to visit it.
  • Li Xia asked Myōga about master smiths and explained that reforging the Thunderstrike Blade would help him protect the group from stronger demons.
  • Li Xia pointed out that powerful demons had been scarce and suspected a dangerous opponent was collecting Shikon Shards beyond their search area in northern Musashi Province.
  • Inuyasha realized that a powerful shard collector might be operating, and Li Xia confirmed the threat.
  • Myōga agreed to take Li Xia to Totosai to repair or improve the Thunderstrike Blade.

Ch. 39Inuyasha's untapped resources, and Li Xia's share of the spoils!

Li Xia and Inuyasha visited Totosai to have Tessaiga sharpened and ask him to forge Li Xia a weapon from the Thunderstrike Blade. Totosai agreed to make Li Xia a weapon in three days, revealed Inuyasha had not learned Tessaiga’s Wind Scar, and heard Inuyasha ask him to recreate a Wind-Fire Wheel.

  • Myōga led Li Xia and his companions to Totosai’s home in a deserted volcanic crater, where the swordsmith recognized Inuyasha and Tessaiga.
  • Li Xia gave Totosai the Thunderstrike Blade and asked him to forge a weapon, while Inuyasha asked him to sharpen Tessaiga.
  • Myōga vouched for Li Xia, and Li Xia showed Totosai the Great Katsura Tree Mask to explain how he could wield a demonic weapon.
  • Totosai sharpened Tessaiga, scolded Inuyasha for neglecting it, and explained that he had not learned the Wind Scar.
  • Totosai agreed to forge Li Xia a weapon and told him to return in three days; Inuyasha then asked him to make a replacement Wind-Fire Wheel.

Ch. 40Sesshomaru's change of heart!

Li Xia urged the group to hurry to the Demon Slayer Village so they could uncover Naraku’s plans before its defenders were attacked. Meanwhile, Kaede used Li Xia’s prepared story to provoke Sesshomaru’s interest in Inuyasha, leaving Sesshomaru outwardly scornful but inwardly unsettled.

  • Li Xia introduced himself to Miroku, then argued that the group should reach the Demon Slayer Village quickly and use it to draw out the demon secretly collecting Shikon Shards.
  • Kagome worried about Li Xia’s exhaustion, but he explained that arriving early could let them prevent Naraku’s planned attack on the Demon Slayer Village.
  • Led by Grandpa Myoga, the group traveled toward the Demon Slayer Village and came within a few hours of it.
  • Sesshomaru visited Kaede looking for Inuyasha, and Kaede claimed Inuyasha would give him Tessaiga to study if Sesshomaru collected Shikon Shards and obtained a gemstone from Hōsenki.
  • Kaede told Sesshomaru that Inuyasha wanted to surpass their father and forge a weapon of his own, prompting Sesshomaru to dismiss him while visibly reacting to the challenge.
