Li Xia negotiated with Master Shinsen to take Entei in exchange for grain, then demonstrated that he could handle the demon horse. After Shinsen released Entei from his seal, Li Xia sent Poison Flood Dragon to fight him, and Entei dodged its opening strike.

• Master Shinsen told Li Xia how Entei had once served Purgatory Demon and how he had sealed the demon horse beneath the Back Mountain shrine.
• Li Xia offered grain in exchange for Entei and promised to subdue him without letting him threaten the region.
• Li Xia revealed Poison Flood Dragon, convincing Shinsen to let him try to capture Entei.
• Shinsen undid Entei's seal, and the demon horse burst from the mountain amid flames and lightning.
• Li Xia raised a Barrier, sent the two frightened novices outside, and ordered Poison Flood Dragon to attack Entei.

Li Xia subdued Entei, thanked Master Shinsen with a large gift of rice, and released Purgatory Demon, whom Mountain Demon promptly devoured. He then rode Entei to Tsubaki’s Shrine, where Tsubaki arranged for the young mikos to leave before Li Xia entered.

• Li Xia trapped Entei in a compressed Barrier, subdued it with the Poison Flood Dragon, and contracted it as his fourth Shikigami.

• Naraku attacked the Medicine Elder Poison Immortal, was badly beaten and purified, and escaped after sacrificing a Shikon Shard.

Li Xia and Kikyo sensed the awakening and headed for the Forest of No Return, where the Tree of Ages unleashed a threat that drew the attention of demons across the land.

• Naraku abandoned his first plan to infect Manganomaru and considered using Li Xia to test him, but a vast surge of demon power rose from the Forest of No Return and startled him.
• Li Xia refused to return to the Village after Naraku claimed Miroku had died, and he dismissed the report as a lie.
• Li Xia and Kikyo sensed the strange demon power, then rode Entei toward the Forest of No Return to investigate.

• Manganomaru’s moth swarms spread poisonous powder across villages and drew souls into the inheritance vessel, though monks, mikos, demons, and deities defended some places.
• A-Bi sheltered her village in a cave with a weak barrier and collapsed after exhausting her spiritual power, while Tōko and Yunya attacked the swarms elsewhere.

• In the volcanic caverns, Li Xia killed Glass, took her White Magatama, captured Big Kirara, and freed her from the red magatama controlling her.
• Li Xia sealed the Complete Tree of Ages into the Crying Face mask, realizing its unusual cooperation came from its attraction to the Sacred Tree Mask.
• Sesshomaru and Manganomaru continued their duel, with Manganomaru gaining control as both fighters grew through the battle.

Li Xia and Sesshomaru joined forces with the others to defeat Manganomaru, using the combined power of Tessaiga and Tenseiga. Li Xia left with fragments of Manganomaru’s power jewel, while Kagome vowed to win him back and Naraku watched the battle’s aftermath with concern.

• Manganomaru survived the group’s opening attacks and charged at Li Xia, who summoned the Poison Flood Dragon and Mountain Demon to knock him back.
• Li Xia asked Kagome and Kikyo to support him with Sacred Arrows, then discovered that Tessaiga and Sesshomaru’s Tenseiga responded to each other.

• Manganomaru's interrupted ritual released the captured souls, though millions of mountain spirits and monsters and hundreds of thousands of villagers had already died.
• Inuyasha arrived after the battle, took back Tessaiga from Kagome, and chased after Kikyo while Kagome and Sango headed southeast.
