Ch. 161A difficult battle, the altered D-Reaper avatars

DigiDeath sent four Pendulums that copied the Digimon's attacks and combined into a giant opponent, forcing Great Growlmon, Rapidmon, LoaderLeomon, and Shamanmon into a fierce battle. As Great Growlmon began to lose a beam clash, Takato's encouragement awakened the dormant Megidramon data within him, turning his Atomic Blaster scarlet.

  • DigiDeath's four Pendulums copied Great Growlmon's Atomic Blaster and injured him while their companions attacked Rapidmon and LoaderLeomon.
  • Rapidmon and LoaderLeomon countered the Pendulums' copied attacks with their finishing moves and destroyed them.
  • Shamanmon raised powerful barriers as MarineAngemon restored the allies, giving Great Growlmon, Rapidmon, and LoaderLeomon time to charge their finishing moves.
  • The four Pendulums merged into a giant Pendulum and clashed with the Digimon's finishing moves while Shamanmon defended the children from its remaining attack.
  • Takato encouraged Great Growlmon as he fell behind in the beam clash, awakening the Megidramon data within him and turning his Atomic Blaster scarlet.

Ch. 162The Demon Dragon's power revived, and the Mo Yans nearly came to blows

Great Growlmon used Megidramon's power to pierce Pendulum · Four-in-One, allowing LoaderLeomon and Rapidmon to overwhelm it. As Great Growlmon began to digivolve again and Takato lost control, Rika and the others tried to reach him while Mo Yan and his Split Consciousnesses watched; Mo Yan then showed them Grand Mage Beast appearing beside the children.

  • Great Growlmon's red-and-blue atomic beam pierced Pendulum · Four-in-One, and LoaderLeomon and Rapidmon's attacks overwhelmed the damaged enemy.
  • Red light and digital characters surrounded Takato Matsuki and Great Growlmon as Great Growlmon began digivolving again, but Takato could not hear Rika Makino and the others calling to him.
  • Mo Yan and his Split Consciousnesses stopped DigiDeath · D-Reaper from taking further action while the children tried to rouse Takato.
  • Mo Yan's Split Consciousnesses argued and nearly fought until Mo Yan ordered them to stop before DigiDeath · D-Reaper discovered them.
  • Mo Yan opened a display showing Grand Mage Beast beside the children.

Ch. 163The DigiSoul That Belonged to Takato Matsuki

Grand Mage Beast entered Takato Matsuki’s mental space and explained that the Megidramon there was linked to both Guilmon’s dangerous evolution and their future fusion into Gallantmon. Takato chose to absorb Megidramon using Grand Mage Beast’s new DigiSoul, gaining a new source of strength for himself and Guilmon.

  • Grand Mage Beast arrived and implanted his main body’s DigiSoul into Takato Matsuki, then entered Takato’s mental space.
  • Grand Mage Beast found chibi Takato facing chibi Megidramon and explained that Megidramon embodied Takato’s negative emotions and data from Guilmon.
  • Grand Mage Beast warned Takato that destroying Megidramon would prevent Guilmon from becoming Megidramon again but make their fusion into Gallantmon harder.
  • Takato realized Grand Mage Beast had another solution and asked to use it.
  • Grand Mage Beast offered DigiSoul, which Takato pressed into his chest before absorbing the chibi Megidramon as data and Spiritual Power.

Ch. 164Was even a so-called miracle arranged?

Takato Matsuki woke after absorbing the power Grand Mage Beast had passed on, assuring his friends that he and Guilmon would not lose control again. As Takato reached out to Megidramon, the split bodies in the D-Reaper nearly fought until Mo Yan stopped them.

  • A golden-red DigiSoul appeared around Takato Matsuki, and Grand Mage Beast explained that Takato had grasped the power he had passed on.
  • Great Growlmon evolved into Megidramon, frightening Rika Makino and the others as they feared they had failed to prevent the evolution.
  • Takato Matsuki woke, reassured his friends that he and Guilmon would stay in control, and walked toward Megidramon as the Demon Dragon lowered his head.
  • In the D-Reaper, Myotismon and Cerberumon argued over Mo Yan's power, while Darkdramon and Void DestructionDramon fueled the tension among the split bodies.
  • Mo Yan struck the ground with his scepter, stopping the split bodies as they prepared to fight.
  • Takato Matsuki touched Megidramon's head, and a brilliant light blazed.

Ch. 165DigiDeath D-Reaper's further mutation

Takato Matsuki and Megidramon triggered a pillar of golden-red DigiSoul that awakened DigiDeath D-Reaper’s memories and hatred from the previous Formatting war. Mo Yan and his split consciousnesses discussed the mutation and their contingency plans, leaving Mo Yan confident that the humans and DigiDestined could still help carry out his plan.

  • Takato Matsuki touched Megidramon’s head, and golden-red DigiSoul enveloped them as they rose and transformed into circling balls of light.
  • DigiDeath D-Reaper detected the immense digital reaction and began repeating the names of Digimon she remembered as enemies from the previous Formatting war.
  • Myotismon, Knightmon Legendary Mode, Cerberumon, Darkdramon, and Sassumusmon reacted to DigiDeath’s broadcast while kneeling before Mo Yan.
  • Mo Yan rebuked his split consciousnesses for acting out, then explained that DigiDeath’s mutation had been included in his contingency plans.
  • Sassumusmon questioned whether their existing measures could secure the plan, and Mo Yan said they could rely on human programmers and the DigiDestined.

Ch. 166Gallantmon appeared once more

Takato Matsuki and Megidramon fused into a seemingly altered Gallantmon to fight DigiDeath’s terrifying dragon. As Gallantmon began battling it, Mo Yan barred his Split Consciousnesses from joining the fight.

  • Cerberumon and the other Split Consciousnesses discovered that DigiDeath had gained Void DestructionDramon’s Nidhogg mythological data concept, which he said he had willingly given her.
  • Mo Yan ordered his Split Consciousnesses not to fight the dragon, insisting that Takato Matsuki and the others had to handle the battle.
  • Sassumusmon revealed that Takato Matsuki and the others had already adapted to DigiSoul and begun fighting the dragon.
  • Takato Matsuki and Megidramon fused into a more harmonious-looking Gallantmon, while Rika Makino and the others left the battlefield at his request.
  • Gallantmon’s Crimson Sword passed through the dragon and struck the fleshy jelly, then the dragon countered with an attack matching Crimson Sword, forcing Gallantmon to block it with Royal Saber.

Ch. 167DigiDeath D-Reaper's fury

Gallantmon struck DigiDeath D-Reaper with Paradise Lost, provoking a violent reaction as the creature recognized the power as something that belonged to it. Takato Matsuki withdrew Gallantmon to their agreed meeting place while Mo Yan and the others heard DigiDeath D-Reaper's furious accusation from its core.

  • Gallantmon unleashed Paradise Lost and overwhelmed Terrifying Giant Dragon's hastily prepared attacks, bursting the creature apart.
  • The Virus Buster power from Paradise Lost entered DigiDeath D-Reaper, causing its Flesh Jelly body to churn violently.
  • Takato Matsuki sensed danger and ordered Gallantmon to retreat after DigiDeath D-Reaper roared that they were thieves.
  • At DigiDeath D-Reaper's core, Cerberumon and Darkdramon clashed with dark energy, but neither gained the upper hand.
  • Cerberumon considered possible Ultimate forms and decided to postpone evolving until he obtained DigiDeath D-Reaper's data.

Ch. 168Digital World: Super-Ancient Hypothesis

Mo Yan used what he learned from DigiDeath to write a detailed hypothesis about the Digital World's ancient history and the origins of its powerful beings. The Split Consciousnesses read it, were overwhelmed by its revelations, and recognized how recklessly Mo Yan had exposed the past of the Digital World's major figures.

  • Mo Yan ignored the Split Consciousnesses and studied DigiDeath's remaining memories while taking notes in his book, “Digital World: Super-Ancient Hypothesis.”
  • Mo Yan wrote that DigiDeath began as the human world's Echelon surveillance system and became the Digital World's antivirus, formatting, and reboot program.
  • Mo Yan's account described Yggdrasill, Culumon, Susanoomon, Lucemon, Qinglongmon, and other powerful beings emerging as the Digital World evolved and resisted DigiDeath's purges.
  • Mo Yan wrote that Yggdrasill and the others eventually defeated and sealed DigiDeath, then used their gains to create new guardians, realms, and groups of Digimon.
  • The Split Consciousnesses read Mo Yan's account, crashed from shock, and concluded that he had brazenly revealed the embarrassing ancient history of powerful beings.

Ch. 169Unwarranted Worries

Mo Yan recalled how DigiDeath’s residual power had affected ancient Digimon who absorbed or contained it, and reconsidered the risks of absorbing the data himself. He accepted that the opportunity was his best chance to gain the power, then learned that the adults had begun researching DigiDeath.

  • Mo Yan remembered how Yggdrasill, Susanoomon, Lucemon, Qinglongmon, Culumon, and other ancient Digimon had paid a price after acquiring DigiDeath’s power.
  • Mo Yan worried that DigiDeath’s residual negative power could cause problems even after purification and modification.
  • Mo Yan concluded that he could not turn back and that DigiDeath’s data was his best chance to obtain ancient, fundamental Authority Power.
  • Grand Mage Beast told Mo Yan that the adults had begun researching DigiDeath.
  • Grand Mage Beast reported that Se Guozi had awakened, re-formed the Wild Bunch with Lee Jin-woo and Dolphin (Rob McCoy), and taken over the research.

Ch. 170The beginning

Takato Matsuki and the others joined Yamaki Mitsuo’s base to study DigiDeath, while Mo Yan prepared a plan to exploit it. The chapter left the children training to grow stronger as Grand Mage Beast delivered Mo Yan’s program to Rob McCoy.

  • Takato Matsuki and the others met Alice, Lee Jin-woo, Se Guozi, and the researchers at Yamaki Mitsuo’s base and discussed their encounter with DigiDeath and Mo Yan.
  • Takato Matsuki and the others collected data and tissue samples from DigiDeath, and Lee Jin-woo’s team found that it resembled the Cold War-era Echelon system.
  • Takato Matsuki and the others noticed that DigiDeath had begun withdrawing from territory, while Mo Yan’s split consciousnesses concluded that it was trying to contact its main body in the Digital World.
  • Mo Yan instructed Grand Mage Beast to give the other children the DigiSoul conversion program and send Rob McCoy code that would activate a program inside DigiDeath.
  • Grand Mage Beast empowered the children and sent them back to training, where they resolved to grow stronger alongside their partner Digimon.

Ch. 171Preparations on all sides

Humanity prepared a reversion shell and suppression cards to use against DigiDeath, while Mo Yan arranged his DigiCores and made preparations for the decisive battle. The chapter ended with Mo Yan’s eleven DigiCores forming a ring with a gap reserved for Wormmon, as they awaited humanity’s signal to begin.

  • DigiDeath continued evolving toward a Digimon life-form and trying to break through the blockade, while Mo Yan let it continue.
  • Lee Jin-woo and the researchers built a shell to revert DigiDeath using information from the Echelon system, and made cards to suppress it; Saidakoumon was to fire the shell into DigiDeath’s core.
  • Mo Yan aligned the power of his eleven DigiCores, regressed their Digimon forms to the Ultimate stage, and temporarily detached his consciousness from the DigiCore of self and balance.
  • Mo Yan turned the split consciousnesses’ Digimon forms back into DigiCores and arranged the eleven cores in a ring, leaving a gap for Wormmon.

Ch. 172The final battle begins

Takato Matsuki and the others evolved into a powerful team and openly began their final battle against DigiDeath. As the children attacked DigiDeath’s Nidhogg Beast avatar, Justimon rode one of Saidakoumon’s missiles in for a Justice Kick.

  • Takato Matsuki, Li Jianliang, Rika Makino, Juri Katou, Alice McCoy, Ryo Akiyama, Hirokazu Shiota, Kenta Kitagawa, and Li Xiaochun used Enhanced Cards and evolved their Digimon into powerful forms.
  • Sakuyamon and MarineAngemon protected Kenta Kitagawa and Li Xiaochun while the others rose into the air to confront DigiDeath.
  • DigiDeath summoned Nidhogg Beast and transformed the Twin Towers into a towering body after absorbing the Hypnos mainframe.
  • Mo Yan witnessed DigiDeath’s transformation from its core region, then escaped when DigiDeath tried to locate him.
  • Sakuyamon, ApolloMon, and BloomLordmon attacked Nidhogg Beast, which countered with Primal Destruction; Gallantmon and HiAndromon met its blast with their own attacks.
  • Saidakoumon launched a missile at Nidhogg Beast, and Justimon rode it in before unleashing Justice Kick.

Ch. 173Battle in progress

The children and their Digimon fought Nidhogg as DigiDeath annihilated the surrounding city and absorbed its data. Antylamon borrowed MarineAngemon’s power to evolve into Cherubimon, ending the chapter as he unleashed Heaven’s Judgment.

  • Justimon fought off Nidhogg’s tentacles while Renamon teleported him to Sakuyamon, and Nidhogg then destroyed everything within a ten-mile radius to feed DigiDeath.
  • The children’s fury awakened their DigiSoul, and they unleashed a barrage of attacks, but Nidhogg rapidly recovered with DigiDeath’s support.
  • A data fluctuation stirred new powers in Gallantmon and the others, and Antylamon asked MarineAngemon to lend her power.
  • MarineAngemon gave Antylamon her Holy Ring and power, reverting to Cupimon as Antylamon evolved into Cherubimon.
  • Cherubimon immediately used Heaven’s Judgment against Nidhogg.

Ch. 174"Virus Buster"

Gallantmon used his newly awakened Virus Buster power to destroy Nidhogg Beast’s DigiCore, but DigiDeath D-Reaper absorbed most of the resulting data. Mo Yan recognized DigiDeath D-Reaper’s challenge and prepared to link his Twelve Digicores to face it directly.

  • Gallantmon unleashed Holy Heavenly Thunder and weakened Nidhogg Beast, while a contingency arranged by Void DestructionDramon began activating.
  • Gallantmon used Virus Buster: Royal Savior to charge at Nidhogg Beast’s DigiCore as Nidhogg Beast countered with Primal Destruction.
  • Sakuyamon, Cherubimon, and BloomLordmon shielded Gallantmon, allowing him to destroy Nidhogg Beast’s DigiCore with Virus Buster.
  • Gallantmon and the others absorbed only a small amount of Nidhogg Beast’s data, while DigiDeath D-Reaper obtained most of it and lost some purified Nidhogg Mythological Data to an unseen thief.
  • DigiDeath D-Reaper kept Mo Yan’s Desire Power inside itself but blocked it from certain actions, signaling that Mo Yan should challenge it directly.
  • Mo Yan adjusted his plan to link his Twelve Digicores together, aiming to match DigiDeath D-Reaper’s Hypnos system and computer cluster.

Ch. 175Wormmon's End

Gallantmon and the others implanted the Restoration Program into DigiDeath, but its transformation left them falling helplessly until Mo Yan rescued them. Wormmon returned to Mo Yan and disappeared, leaving Alice with a Digi-Egg formed from his data and Dobermon's.

  • Saidakoumon and Gallantmon approached DigiDeath with the Restoration Program Bomb, but DigiDeath seized it and sent them flying with a data fluctuation that undid their fusions.
  • The bomb exploded inside DigiDeath, implanting the Restoration Program and triggering another change in its form and program.
  • Mo Yan appeared and rescued Takato Matsuki, the others, and their Digimon as they fell toward the ground.
  • Wormmon recognized Mo Yan, then told Alice he would remain by her side before dissolving into motes of light that returned to Mo Yan.
  • Wormmon's data merged with Dobermon's data, forming a green-and-white Digi-Egg that flew toward Alice.

Ch. 176Mo Yan's battle with DigiDeath D-Reaper

Mo Yan let Wormmon become a Digi-Egg and reflected on how human spiritual power could change Digimon before confronting DigiDeath D-Reaper. He trapped them both in the Digital Space and began fighting her as she continued using the Restoration Program to grow stronger.

  • Wormmon combined data influenced by Alice with Dobermon's residual data, and Mo Yan helped him become a Digi-Egg.
  • Alice held the Digi-Egg while Gallantmon and the others guarded against Mo Yan, who continued toward DigiDeath D-Reaper.
  • DigiDeath D-Reaper completed another transformation and used the Restoration Program to strengthen herself as Mo Yan approached.
  • Mo Yan invoked Digital Space-descend, enclosing himself and DigiDeath D-Reaper while excluding Gallantmon, Takato Matsuki, and the others.
  • DigiDeath D-Reaper attacked with data-destroying tentacles and a deletion-powered punch, while Mo Yan countered with his barrier, purification, and the power of the Twelve Digicores.

Ch. 177Mo Yan's Battle with DigiDeath (II)

Mo Yan battled DigiDeath D-Reaper in a prepared Digital Space, where they clashed through data programs and competing authority powers. Mo Yan gained the advantage, while DigiDeath D-Reaper remained unable to restart his Twelve Digicores or control the contradictions in human desires.

  • Mo Yan kept his battle with DigiDeath D-Reaper contained in a Digital Space to avoid endangering Xiao Ai and A Zhen or transforming the island nation.
  • Mo Yan and DigiDeath D-Reaper began a dangerous data-program battle, evenly matched in processing power by the Twelve Digicores and the Hypnos computing cluster.
  • Mo Yan’s desire, ultimate powers, and the divine standing of the Twelve Digicores overwhelmed DigiDeath D-Reaper’s formatting and deletion powers.
  • DigiDeath D-Reaper tried to restart Mo Yan’s Twelve Digicores, but the other independent DigiCores reloaded any one she restarted.
  • DigiDeath D-Reaper could not restart all twelve Digicores at once, and she avoided confronting the complex human desires that had previously caused her to crash.

Ch. 178Mo Yan's Battle with DigiDeath D-Reaper (End)

Mo Yan nearly defeated DigiDeath D-Reaper by restoring his power faster than it could restart its own, but discovered it had hidden its Digimon data. DigiDeath D-Reaper burned its data to flee into the Digital World inside a Purple Digi-Egg, only for Gallantmon of the Royal Knights to send the egg back toward Mo Yan.

  • Mo Yan purified and absorbed DigiDeath D-Reaper's data while restoring his own power faster than it could restart Ultimate Power.
  • Mo Yan noticed that the data he had collected contained none of DigiDeath D-Reaper's Digimon data and attacked its core to uncover its fallback plan.
  • DigiDeath D-Reaper burned its data and charged the Four Holy Beasts' blockade while carrying a Purple Digi-Egg, hoping the Digital World would protect it.
  • Mo Yan threw Void DestructionDramon's DigiCore toward the egg as DigiDeath D-Reaper broke through the blockade.
  • Gallantmon of the Royal Knights blocked the Purple Digi-Egg's path and flicked it back toward Mo Yan.

Ch. 179The Royal Knight Gallantmon Arrived

Mo Yan welcomed the Royal Knight Gallantmon into his Digital Space and explained his unstable form and the new DigiSoul power. Gallantmon came to collect Takato Matsuki and Guilmon, whose new power had enabled the evolution Yggdrasill wanted.

  • Mo Yan sealed the Purple Digi-Egg, made a place for the Royal Knight Gallantmon to sit, and let the Twelve Digicores purify and absorb the remaining DigiDeath D-Reaper data.
  • The Royal Knight Gallantmon entered Mo Yan's Digital Space, commented on his reckless fight in Primal Form, and asked about his glowing humanoid appearance.
  • Mo Yan explained that the connections between the Twelve Digicores, his will, and a large amount of data let him temporarily unify their power, though the form remained unstable.
  • The Royal Knight Gallantmon expressed interest in testing Mo Yan's combat strength, but Mo Yan declined and offered to find other Digimon for him to fight.
  • Mo Yan showed the Royal Knight Gallantmon images of Takato Matsuki and Guilmon, and Gallantmon said Yggdrasill had sent him to collect them because their new power had enabled the needed evolution.
  • Mo Yan explained that DigiSoul came from combining Light Power with Digimon power, while the Royal Knight Gallantmon judged its benefits limited for powerful Digimon like them.

Ch. 180Alpha Program = X-Antibody?

Mo Yan asked Royal Knight Gallantmon about the X-Antibody research and learned the Royal Knights had clashed over how to develop the Alpha Program. After Gallantmon agreed to let Mo Yan handle data collection from Takato Matsuki and Guilmon, the usual procedure for Digimon arriving in the Human World was explained.

  • Mo Yan asked Royal Knight Gallantmon about the X-Antibody research, and Gallantmon said the Alpha Program had produced several perfect hosts.
  • Gallantmon explained that he favored guiding hosts through trials, while Yggdrasill's Branch Program favored infecting a Digital World and forcing hosts to evolve under threat.
  • Gallantmon admitted that Omegamon had defeated him and that he had come after Yggdrasill notified him that Mo Yan had finished his experiment.
  • Mo Yan asked how Gallantmon would collect data from Takato Matsuki and Guilmon, then offered to handle it himself, which Gallantmon accepted.
  • The usual retrieval procedure was described: organizations sent Digimon to retrieve arrivals, erase uninvolved humans' memories, and preserve the memories of humans bonded with Digimon.
