"Where do you want to go?" Xu Zimo looked at the young man and asked.
"Anywhere is fine. I rarely leave Heyang City, and now I just want to see the world beyond."
The young man smiled.
"Where are you from, fellow Daoist?"
"The four seas are my home. I go wherever my feet take me," Xu Zimo replied.
"But if you want to leave Heyang City, I'm afraid that won't be possible."
"What do you mean, fellow Daoist?" The young man froze, asking in confusion.
Xu Zimo took a sip of wine and turned his gaze toward the inn's entrance.
At some point, a group of people in light red robes had rushed inside.
Moreover, they had surrounded the entire inn.
In Heyang City, there was only one force whose members wore such light red robes.
That was the City Lord's Mansion.
The inn had been packed to the rafters. Yet when the crowd saw those light red-robed people, the previously noisy hall fell silent at once.
Only a small number of people continued whispering among themselves.
"It's rare to see the City Lord's Mansion send out so many people at once!"
"Did someone offend the City Lord and hide in this inn?"
"Probably not. Today is the day the City Lord is choosing a husband for his daughter. No one could be that blind to danger!"
"Look at the man leading them—it's Steward Zhou from the City Lord's Mansion. He's the City Lord's confidant. He only appears when something especially important happens."
The crowd discussed fervently.
Steward Zhou swept his gaze around the room, his eyes discreetly settling on the young man opposite Xu Zimo.
Then he clasped his hands and smiled at everyone present. "Everyone, my apologies. Could I trouble you all to leave for the moment?"
