The night passed without a word. They had busied themselves all night, yet gained nothing at all.
Dawn began to break, and the people from the Divine Sun Sacred Sect returned to the main hall.
Wang Tao was the first to ask, "Steward Hu, did anything happen last night?"
"No, no," Steward Hu hurriedly shook his head and replied, "I just counted everyone. Everyone is safe and sound."
"Looks like that person is nothing special after all. Just putting on a ghostly act and playing petty tricks," Wang Tao said with a sigh of relief.
Xu Zimo rose from the reclining chair beside them and stretched. Looking at Wang Tao, he said, "Young man, I see darkness between your brows. Perhaps a bloody disaster awaits you."
"What do you mean?" Wang Tao asked with a frown.
Xu Zimo did not answer. He merely smiled faintly, then walked outside the hall on his own and began loosening up his limbs in the light of the rising sun.
"Everyone, stop arguing. I had the servants prepare breakfast. You have all been busy the entire night, so hurry and eat something," Steward Hu hurriedly tried to smooth things over. Smiling, he added, "I am still counting on all of you to stay a few more days and help me catch this murderer soon."
Wang Tao cast Xu Zimo a glance and said flatly, "I'm going to the latrine."
Then he left by himself.
At breakfast, everyone took their seats, but after waiting for a long while, Wang Tao was nowhere to be seen.
Xiao Guizi teased, "Did your Senior Brother Wang fall into the latrine pit?"
"I'll go call him," Xing Lin said, frowning. Still, he forcibly suppressed the anger in his heart and hurried out of the side hall.
Not long afterward,
