"What are you talking about?" Venerable Nu glared at Shi Jian, then ran toward Artifact Mountain with some unease in his heart.
After the fourth-level heavenly tribulation ended, the sky gradually returned to its usual calm.
The two arrived at the center of Artifact Mountain.
A bottomless pit had appeared there.
This was Artifact Mountain, steadfast and unyielding. Had it been any other mountain, it would likely have already collapsed.
"Junior Brother Zimo!" Shi Jian lay prone at the edge of the pit and shouted.
His voice echoed through the hollow pit.
"Let's go down and take a look," Venerable Nu said.
The two stepped through the air and flew toward the bottom of the pit.
The farther down they went, the more they saw the horrifying scene underground. Electric arcs still flickered along one side of the walls.
As they called Xu Zimo's name, they flew toward the very bottom.
At last, after seven or eight minutes, they reached the lowest level.
The place had become a field of ruins. The earth was cracked, black smoke rising from it.
The scattered rocks and soil all looked as though they had been scorched.
The two began searching below.
Venerable Nu did not dare imagine what would happen if Xu Zimo had been directly annihilated by the lightning. They might not even be able to find his bones.
"Master, Junior Brother Xu is here!" Shi Jian's shout pulled him back from his wild thoughts.
Venerable Nu hurriedly looked toward the sound and saw Xu Zimo lying beneath a boulder.
His clothes were somewhat tattered, all of it from being struck by lightning.
The surface of his skin was blackened as well.
"Junior Brother Xu, wake up!" Shi Jian hurriedly helped Xu Zimo up and shouted.
"Cough, cough." Xu Zimo coughed heavily
