Gordon survived his first major hunts, chose the Great Sword, and formed a partnership with Porkchop while building his strength and equipment. After defeating a Blue Velociprey King and earning promotion, he took a Rathalos egg quest, but his attempt to escape the nest woke the returning Rathian.

• Gordon hunted the final Great Bullfango, then faced an enormous Bulldrome and was badly injured before Felynes rescued him.
• Gordon returned to challenge the Bullfango King with poisoned bait and careful tactics, then killed it with its own broken tusk after his knife shattered.
• Gordon recovered in Kokoto Village, chose the Great Sword, and forged a Buster Sword from his own materials.
• Porkchop joined Gordon as his Palico, and the pair hunted Blue Velociprey while gathering materials and money for armor.
• Gordon and Porkchop accepted an urgent quest to hunt a Blue Velociprey King threatening a trade caravan, and Gordon defeated the king after a brutal fight.
• After winter ended, Gordon accepted a quest to gather a Rathalos egg and traveled to the nest with Porkchop.
• Gordon and Porkchop hid from the returning Rathian by masking their scent, but the Buster Sword scraped the ground and woke it.

After recovering from his encounter with a Rathalos, Gordon left Kokoto Village for Minegarde City to pursue more challenging hunts. His first quest there taught him new combat skills and the importance of balancing hunting with respect for nature, while damage to his Buster Sword led him to the local workshop.

• Gordon survived the Rathalos attack with Porkchop’s help, recovered from his injuries, and left Kokoto Village for Minegarde City after Ernest and the Instructor urged him to seek greater challenges.
• Gordon arrived in Minegarde and met Oshura, Tiji, the Chairwoman, and Amos, who explained the history of Kokoto’s village chief, the Hero.
• Gordon accepted a Shakalaka quest that was mistakenly rated as an easy hunt, then joined Amos and Hayata when Amos warned that a King Shakalaka might appear.
• Gordon and Amos fought the Shakalaka while Hayata gained her first hunting experience, and Amos drove off the King Shakalaka rather than killing it.
• Amos explained that killing the King Shakalaka could destabilize the tribes and harm people, and Gordon and Hayata learned to consider nature’s balance when hunting.
• Gordon collected his quest reward, celebrated with Amos and Hayata, then took his damaged Buster Sword to a workshop for repairs.
• The workshop owner offered Gordon 6,000z for Hayata’s Ancient Coin, but Gordon kept the gift and paid 800z to have his sword repaired.
