Zhao Si found Castle Sol and brought craftsmen from there to renovate the Astrologer's Ruins.
This was a major undertaking. They needed stone, timber, and all sorts of other materials. A full set of furniture had to be made, too. The craftsmen set up camp around the Astrologer's Ruins and settled in.
The desolate snowfield suddenly bustled with activity.
"Brother, construction work in this freezing weather costs extra." The foreman raised his price on the spot.
Zhao Si rested his left arm on his sword hilt. "Paying extra isn't a problem. But if the workmanship is poor, withholding payment won't be the end of it."
"Oh, oh, are you threatening us?" The foreman wasn't afraid in the slightest and stood his ground against Zhao Si.
"It's not a threat. We're discussing things." Zhao Si smiled amiably. "We both want the job done well. You wouldn't want anything to go wrong either, would you?"
He pointed to his eyes.
Only after seeing that Zhao Si's pupils lacked the light of Grace did the foreman realize where the man before him got his confidence.
For anyone making a living in the Lands Between, offending someone who served the Two Fingers certainly wouldn't lead to an easy life.
Those who served the Two Fingers weren't aristocrats, but they still held power over life and death. At the very least, killing a few laborers wouldn't cause much trouble.
Zhao Si didn't know exactly what rumors circulated among ordinary people about the envoys of the Two Fingers. But he could tell that the foreman was afraid.
Fear was enough. He wasn't expecting them to accomplish anything great. He only hoped they would do their jobs properly, without raising prices on the spot, cutting corners, or dragging out the work.
