Radahn had gone to aid Caria entirely because he had received Ranni's plea for help.
The two pleas for help, along with the scouts who had been sent out and never returned, had left him uncertain.
To keep Caria from falling before Stormveil Castle, he decided to abandon Stormveil Castle for the time being and rescue Caria instead.

"What about Ranni's pleas for help?" Radahn asked.
"The princess never sent any pleas for help." Blaidd shook his head honestly.
Radahn became even more certain of his conclusion-he had been deceived.
It was easy to guess who had tricked him. Apart from the people of Stormveil Castle, the only other possibility was the Haligtree's side.
"Miquella." Radahn looked toward the Haligtree and said the name through gritted teeth.
But he did not set out immediately. Instead, he chose to make camp in Caria
