As mentioned before, Miquella was omniscient within the Haligtree's bounds.
Who came to the Haligtree, who left, who was who-he could sense it all. He only had to pay a little attention.
Besides, entry to and exit from the Haligtree required Miquella's intervention.
That left only one way Melina could have come in: she had ridden Torrent and jumped in.
That was right. She had leaped over the towering mountains between Ordina and the Haligtree and landed in Haligtree Town.
Torrent was so handy.
Afterward, Melina had made discreet inquiries around the Haligtree about Zhao Si and Godwyn.
Zhao Si was secondary. Godwyn was her main concern.
By comparison, Godwyn was a much more conspicuous target than Zhao Si.
In the age of fading, once Godwyn's legend of fading had spread, it was not hard to learn that he was at the Haligtree.
What was more, Melina had the Twinbird with her. Sending the two little birds out could bring her plenty of information.
After accepting Death Goddess Sikatiya's help, Melina could understand birdsong too.
Melina was puzzled. "Why did the Death Goddess come to the Lands Between? Why did she want to find Godwyn?"
Having only recently been "born," Melina was rather innocent and had no clear purpose.
So when she first heard Sikatiya's request, she figured she had nothing else to do anyway and might as well help her.
After all, when she had been awakened, she had been told to "witness what happens in the Lands Between."
To witness those things, she would have to travel around. Going to the Haligtree was no different from going anywhere else.
Perhaps people spent their whole lives exploring the questions: Who am I, and where am I going?
Melina had wondered too: Who am I?
But that question would have
