My book will go premium at noon on Friday, and honestly, I have all sorts of mixed feelings about it. Writing this book was itself quite unexpected, because I'd never managed to get a contract for anything I wrote on Qidian. I'm not a particularly gifted author, either, so I can't call myself successful at writing. Having anyone willing to read my work is already pretty good. And I've gotten my just deserts, too: my editor told me straight up that the book's performance wasn't very good, so I wouldn't be getting any promotional resources. Haha.
There's a reason the book is so lousy, too. Like I said, this was unexpected. Based on my experience of not succeeding, I never thought I'd get a contract. I won't hide anything: after finishing Elden Ring, I watched some videos and really wanted to express myself, so I thought I might as well turn it into a novel. I could ride the hype while I was at it. What if it worked out? So, figuring nobody would read it anyway and I might as well write whatever and give it a try, I threw together an opening.
I put very little thought into designing the protagonist, too, and that's another thing many people have been unhappy about. So I think I need to explain: the protagonist, Zhao Si, embodies the words "whatever goes" from head to toe, as you can tell from his name. Or you could call him a clown. The sort of person who acts like an idiot at work, ranks dead last in KPIs, and often has no idea what's going on. In short, someone just coasting through life.
I mentioned that he was nearly thirty, so that might have made people think a middle-aged man of thirty ought to
