"What is Darnic trying to do? He not only specified the location for Lancer's decisive battle, but even went out of his way to dictate where he would fight you, Professor Kayneth."
Waver studied the address on the letter the Familiar had delivered earlier.
"There's nothing special about it. It's just a broad street. He couldn't set a trap there even if he wanted to, could he?"
"He must be afraid I'll use an enclosed space to set up a small Workshop on the spot. After all, he knows something of the formidable resources of a Lord's family."
Kayneth spoke dismissively, urging Waver on.
"Go and have the hotel prepare a car. We can't possibly cover that distance on foot."
"I already notified the hotel while we were in the suite."
Waver nodded, took a few steps forward, looked out the window, then beckoned to Kayneth.
"Professor Kayneth, the car is ready!"
At Waver's voice, Kayneth instinctively glanced out the window and saw the black sedan parked quietly by the street. He then walked unhurriedly over to Waver.
"Let's go."
There was not a soul on the street, which the sunset had dyed a fiery red. Since they had booked the premises for themselves, even the hotel staff were waiting inside. The beautiful sight drew an exclamation from Waver.
"It feels so quiet. There aren't even any townspeople on the street. It's so different from London."
"Probably because of the Church's restrictions over the past few days. Ordinary people aren't as carefree as you."
Hearing Kayneth bring up his embarrassing behavior, Waver rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
"That doesn't matter anymore... Now is the time to get fired up."
"You're certainly in good spirits."
