Ch. 41A Towering Tree of Hatred

Zi Yan struggled to choose between protecting the Dog Tribe fortress and answering the Panther Cats’ desecration of their elders. She provoked the Panther Cat Great Elder with news of his clan’s losses and ordered an attack, while he vowed the Panther Cats’ remaining elders would soon arrive.

  • The Panther Cat Army surrounded the Dog Tribe fortress, and the Panther Cat Great Elder battered its barrier with the severed heads of the Dog Tribe’s elders.
  • Zi Yan recalled the Great Elder’s earlier restraint and her own parents’ deaths as she weighed charging out against risking the fortress and more lives.
  • Zi Yan drew strength from thoughts of Tōga and ordered the Dog Yokai to dig up and mutilate the Panther Cat Fifth Elder Chi Yan’s corpse.
  • Zi Yan told the Panther Cat Great Elder that White Bone Maru and two Panther Cat elders at Wind-Thunder Gorge were dead, then taunted him about his clan’s dwindling strength.
  • The Panther Cat Great Elder threw the Dog elders’ remains to the ground, declared more Panther Cat elders would soon arrive, and Zi Yan ordered the Second Elder to attack.

Ch. 42Crimson Cherry Blossom Remnant Heart Style

The Panther Cats shattered the Dog Tribe Fortress’s barrier and launched an assault, forcing Zi Yan to fight while outnumbered. After battling the Panther Cat Great Elder, Zi Yan faced his wind-and-fire dragon and unleashed her final Thoughtless Wheel Dance as an azure dragon appeared.

  • The Panther Cat Second Elder used Earth Dragon Turnover, destroying himself and destabilizing the Dog Tribe Fortress barrier.
  • The Panther Cat Great Elder ordered his army to attack, and the Panther Cats broke through the barrier and charged the Dog Yokai defenders.
  • Zi Yan used the Crimson Cherry Blossom Remnant Heart Style to cut down Panther Cat soldiers and confront the Panther Cat Great Elder.
  • Zi Yan struck the Great Elder with Heavenly Weeping twice, but he survived and summoned a massive wind-and-fire dragon.
  • As the dragon attacked, Zi Yan unleashed her final Thoughtless Wheel Dance, and an azure dragon appeared with Azure Dragon Strike.

Ch. 43Demon Binding-Cherry Blossom Blizzard: Chaotic Blossoms, Heavenly Wind Slash (Part One)

Tōga arrived at the Dog Tribe Fortress and joined Zi Yan against the Panther Cat Great Elder. They fused their yokai powers to unleash a new secret art, leaving the Panther Cat Army trapped in a deadly cherry-blossom barrier.

  • Tōga reached the burning fortress, drove back the wind-and-fire dragon, and stood beside Zi Yan.
  • Zi Yan proposed using the Demon Binding fusion secret art, and she and Tōga agreed to try it.
  • Zi Yan merged the Sword Cherry Tree with Tōga and his Fang Sword, awakening the secret art Cherry Blossom Blizzard: Chaotic Blossoms, Heavenly Wind Slash.
  • Tōga used the first act, Sword Cherry Realm: Windstorm Oni Giri, as cherry-blossom oni warriors attacked and drained the wind-and-fire dragon.
  • A cherry-patterned barrier enclosed the fortress, where yokai roots slaughtered the Panther Cat Soldiers, while the Dog Yokai were cast outside.

Ch. 44Demon Binding-Cherry Blossom Blizzard: Wild Blossom Heavenly Wind Slash (Part Two)

Tōga and Zi Yan defeated the Panther Cat Great Elder’s cursed dragon, but their victory left them exhausted. Ringetsu arrived just as Zi Yan was teasing Tōga, and her cold response left him facing an awkward confrontation.

  • The Panther Cat Great Elder merged his vengeful spirits into a wind-and-fire dragon, turning it into a giant cursed black dragon that consumed Panther Cat soldiers and threatened the Dog Tribe’s future.
  • Tōga used Flower Burial, Purification of the World to restrain and destroy the black dragon, purifying the curse and ending the Panther Cat Great Elder’s last attack.
  • The surviving Panther Cat soldiers fled, while the Dog Tribe warriors cut off their retreat; Tōga and Zi Yan collapsed from exhaustion after the battle.
  • Zi Yan teased Tōga about their Demon Binding and slipped out of his arms when Ringetsu arrived and asked him to explain what she had heard.
  • Ringetsu wiped away Zi Yan’s lingering yokai energy and coldly asked Tōga whether he seemed disappointed.

Ch. 45The First Wife

Tōga and Ringetsu shared a kiss before joining the survivors at the ruined Dog Tribe Fortress, where Zi Yan recounted the events behind its fall. Above them, the Dog King and Oyakata began a fierce battle that Yakumo Yukari interrupted, warning that the Ame no Murakumo would soon appear.

  • Ringetsu kissed Tōga and asked whose heart he loved, then he took her by the wrist and walked with her toward the others.
  • Zi Yan and the survivors gathered the dead elders' remains at the ruined fortress, and Zi Yan explained the events that had led to its fall.
  • The Dog King and Oyakata clashed in the sky, trading sword strikes, lightning, and demonic energy.
  • Yakumo Yukari appeared between the fighters and halted their battle.
  • Yakumo Yukari told the Dog King and Oyakata that the Ame no Murakumo would soon appear.

Ch. 46Original resolve

After the Youkai Sage ended the battle, the Dog King and Oyakata considered the losses and the mystery of Ame no Murakumo. The Dog King returned to his clan, comforted Tōga, and left Ringetsu and Tōga looking ahead to fighting together.

  • Oyakata and the Dog King exchanged taunts, speculated about the Youkai Sage's motives, and parted without continuing their fight.
  • The Dog King reflected that he was weaker than Oyakata and wondered when Ame no Murakumo would emerge before flying back to his clan.
  • The Dog King returned to the fortress and found Tōga mourning the fallen Great Elder and Second Elder.
  • The Dog King comforted Tōga by explaining that death and rebirth were part of the natural order, and Tōga resolved to reshape the Netherworld.
  • The Dog King urged Tōga to train hard, then departed for the clan's territory as Ringetsu looked forward to fighting beside him.

Ch. 47Ringetsu's breakthrough

Ringetsu broke through to a new level of power and transformed into her true form as the Dog Tribe celebrated her ascent. As the Karasu Tengu considered their future after the battle, their elders urged Chieftain Nuregarasu to seek the Dog Tribe’s protection without overstepping their place.

  • Ringetsu absorbed the moonlight, advanced her yokai power, and transformed into a majestic white dog beneath the moon.
  • Nuregarasu and the Dog Yokai witnessed Ringetsu’s breakthrough, and the Dog Tribe celebrated the promise of a stronger future.
  • The Karasu Tengu elders asked Nuregarasu what she planned to do after the battle, and she invited their advice.
  • The three old crows said the Dog Tribe had emerged ahead in the war and would likely lead the Western Country, while the Karasu Tengu should rely on their alliance without overstepping their place.
  • The Karasu Tengu reacted with grief and indignation, and the Dog Yokai’s celebratory mood faltered as their attention turned toward them.

Ch. 48Lord of the Karasu Tengu

Nuregarasu confronted three elders who tried to use the Dog Tribe to secure a settlement for the Karasu Tengu, then asserted sole authority over her tribe. Gravely wounded after wielding the Thunder Spear, she was approached by Tōga, who proposed discussing an idea inspired by the elders’ demands.

  • Nuregarasu recognized that the three elders cared more about their own influence than the Karasu Tengu’s revival, while Tōga watched and considered how to deal with troublemakers.
  • The elders defended their remarks by claiming they had acted for the tribe and hoped to gain the Dog Tribe’s support and a place to settle.
  • Nuregarasu rose into the air with the Thunder Spear and hurled it into the ground beside one elder, frightening all three into begging for mercy.
  • Nuregarasu declared that she alone would decide the affairs of the Karasu Tengu Tribe, and the gathered Karasu Tengu lowered their heads.
  • After dismissing the others, Nuregarasu struggled to endure her wounds as Tōga approached and asked to discuss an idea inspired by the elders’ words.

Ch. 49A token of sincerity

Tōga offered Nuregarasu a Wind-Thunder Jewel as a token of goodwill, hoping to bring the Karasu Tengu under his command. Though she initially refused the precious gift, he pressed her by warning that her damaged body might not survive without its power, and she accepted and swallowed the jewel.

  • Tōga created a barrier around himself and Nuregarasu, then formed a Wind-Thunder Jewel and offered it to her.
  • Tōga explained that the Karasu Tengu had aided the Dog Tribe and said the jewel was a token of his goodwill.
  • Nuregarasu refused the jewel because she did not yet understand Tōga’s intentions and feared accepting too much on behalf of her tribe.
  • Tōga warned Nuregarasu that her injuries might prove fatal without the jewel’s nourishment.
  • Nuregarasu accepted and swallowed the Wind-Thunder Jewel, whose power spread through her body and began soothing her injuries.

Ch. 50Flirt and Run

After Nuregarasu accepted Tōga’s gift and pledged herself to the Karasu Tengu’s cause, she and Ringetsu displayed their powers in the dawn sky. The apparent confrontation ended peacefully, and Ringetsu invited Nuregarasu to travel with them or rest while the Karasu Tengu returned to camp.

  • Nuregarasu thanked Tōga for his gift and offered to give him everything if he sheltered the Karasu Tengu, but Tōga insisted they were both acting for their people.
  • Nuregarasu took flight at sunrise, and Ringetsu descended from the cliff as their yokai powers transformed the sky into a vision of moonlight and dawn.
  • Zi Yan teased Tōga about spending the night with Nuregarasu, then slipped away as Ringetsu and Nuregarasu looked down at him.
  • Ringetsu and Nuregarasu exchanged compliments and showed mutual respect instead of fighting.
  • Ringetsu invited Nuregarasu to accompany them to their ancestral lands or rest, and Nuregarasu returned to the Karasu Tengu camp with her followers.
