Medici rubbed his nose. "Feels like someone's talking about me."
He turned his head. "How's your discussion going?"
The three senior members of the Iron and Blood Cross Order were gathered around a sand table model, chattering away. Waterways crisscrossed the model, with many different types of bridges spanning two rivers. This was the draft provided by the Hidden Sage's church, which had yet to come up with a name.
"There's way too much water in this city." Dunn clicked his tongue. "Should the government's public university offer a sailing course too? If the application goes through, we might even solve the current sailors' employment problem while we're at it. We'd have people for naval warfare in the future too."
Medici interrupted, "We have Sailors here now?"
"Didn't the Lord say before that the church should develop all five pathways?" Dunn answered first. "After the great flood, the Beyonders of the other pathways suffered heavy casualties, but a large number of Sailors survived and advanced. Quite a few survivors also chose to become Sailors directly. Half the church's low-sequence Beyonders are Sailors now. We have to start training Planters and Bards from scratch again."
"Then we really could develop talent for naval warfare." Medici rubbed his chin. Thinking of the Feysac Empire's Sonia Sea fleet, he grew somewhat interested. "We can adopt that, but what does it have to do with the city layout?"
"We should install some railings along the rivers," Traynor pointed out. "Especially near these quiet little tributaries. They could easily be dangerous."
Dunn glanced at him. "Fair point. Because it'd be convenient to murder someone and rob them? But ordinary people wouldn't deliberately go near a secluded riverbank, would they? If it's suicide, there'll be dedicated church personnel patrolling and managing that."
