Hu Yanbo stood quietly where he was, his gaze seemingly still resting on the sleeping Marquis Glorious Light. Yet the aura that had surged around him in anger had somehow settled without a sound.
Beside him, Marquis Rock had been filled with gratitude and lingering fear. Seeing Hu Yanbo standing motionless, she assumed the sight of Glorious Light's terrible condition had plunged him into utter fury and silence, and that he was gathering a thunderous rage.
She did not even dare disturb him, afraid of interrupting the thoughts of this powerful King-level Immortal.
Gradually, however, Marquis Rock sensed something... off.
Hu Yanbo still stood there without moving, but she keenly noticed an extremely subtle yet fundamental change in the aura emanating from him.
It was neither a direct increase in his power nor a concentration of killing intent.
Instead, it was a deeper transformation, one difficult to describe precisely in words.
It was as though a piece of thoroughly tempered iron had silently undergone its final, crucial quenching, shedding its last trace of impurity to become purer, more restrained, yet also more indestructible!
Marquis Rock blinked, almost convinced she was imagining things.
W-what was going on?
How had Hu Yanbo somehow become different again... in the blink of an eye?
In this brief moment of silence, he had undergone a crucial... epiphany?
Waves of shock surged through Marquis Rock's heart, filling her mind with questions and disbelief.
Was this what a true genius was like?!
When other people saw something that reminded them of someone or were moved by a scene, they merely sighed with emotion...
But this Hu Yanbo...
How... how could he apparently gain an epiphany on the spot just by looking at Glorious Light's injuries?!
Was that really a way to get stronger?!
Marquis Rock felt that everything she had previously understood had been completely overturned.
Though she had not known Hu Yanbo for long, she did know a little about him.
Now, however, it seemed that what she knew was perhaps only the tip of the iceberg!
Could I be a late bloomer too?
While Marquis Rock's thoughts raced with wild complaints and speculation, Hu Yanbo slowly withdrew his gaze.
Then, with a thought, he took several exceedingly rare treasures directly out of his World Ring.
The moment the treasures appeared, their tremendous energy made the surrounding space ripple faintly.
When Marquis Rock saw those items, her eyes instantly widened, and she could not help crying out:
"Purple Marrow Essence! Three-Turn Soul-Gathering Grass! Void Soul Crystal..."
Her voice was filled with incredulous shock.
"A-any one of these costs far more than the entire reward for the Five-Star Mission Glory and I accepted from the Universe Mercenary Alliance!"
As a Marquis Immortal, she was hardly ignorant and knew full well how valuable these treasures were.
The Void Soul Crystal, in particular, was said to have only an exceedingly small chance of forming deep within certain extremely dangerous Cosmic Secret Realms. Obtaining one required not only staggering wealth but also tremendous luck.
At least within the Ganwu Universe Country, it was something money could not necessarily buy!
Yet Hu Yanbo had casually produced so many of them. Watching him use those priceless treasures on Glorious Light without the slightest hesitation, Marquis Rock felt her shock gradually give way to an indescribable envy.
Looking at the sleeping Glorious Light, whose aura was steadily stabilizing, then at the focused, unstinting Hu Yanbo, Marquis Rock fell into a momentary daze.
This dear friend she had known for ten million years!
He had probably turned disaster into a blessing this time and struck incredible luck!
As if Hu Yanbo's formidable strength were not enough, he was also secretly filthy rich!
And a rich man who valued loyalty and affection so deeply, and was so willing to give!
Marquis Rock had roamed the universe for countless eras herself and encountered all manner of powerful individuals, including quite a few King-level Immortals.
But she would wager everything she owned that, among the King-level Immortals she knew,
absolutely none of them would spend so much on an "old friend" who was merely a Marquis Immortal-even an "old friend" in every sense of the term-
and pour out so many rare resources without batting an eye!
To those King-level beings who had lived for countless eras and regarded resources and strength as their foundation, never mind doing this for someone else-even if they themselves fell into slumber, as long as their souls were not about to scatter immediately, most would choose the most economical option: return to their Divine Kingdom, let their bodies slowly absorb cosmic energy to recover, and sleep for hundreds of millions of years while gradually improving.
But Hu Yanbo was different!
What an unbelievably wonderful god!
Watching Hu Yanbo's focused profile, Marquis Rock could not help letting out an inward lament, laden with envy and even a trace of bitterness she herself failed to notice:
Why... why had I never met a "big brother" like Hu Yanbo... strong, gifted, loyal, and ridiculously wealthy, back when I was risking my life on the Outer Domain Battlefield and narrowly escaping death time and again?!
Glory, that fellow, was outrageously lucky!
While she inwardly complained, Marquis Glorious Light's long eyelashes trembled slightly as he lay suspended in midair, and an extremely faint groan escaped his lips.
Under the potent effects of the Purple Marrow Essence, Void Soul Crystal, and the other treasures, his Divine Body and soul, both on the verge of collapse, stabilized at an astonishing speed and began rapidly recovering. His consciousness was also pulled back from the deepest coma.
A short while later, Marquis Glorious Light slowly opened his eyes. His gaze still held a trace of confusion and weakness, but when he saw the familiar yet somehow different face before him, his eyes focused slightly and his lips moved, as though he wanted to say something.
"Don't speak yet. Just focus on absorbing these treasures," Hu Yanbo said.
Marquis Glorious Light obediently closed his eyes and devoted himself to guiding the vast yet gentle energy within him to repair his Divine Body.
Only after seeing that Glorious Light's condition had stabilized did Hu Yanbo breathe a little easier.
He turned his gaze toward Marquis Rock, whose expression was complicated. With another thought, he took several more treasures from his World Ring, each brimming with energy and glowing softly.
Although these treasures were nowhere near as extraordinary as the Void Soul Crystal, they were still rare treasures capable of quickly restoring an Immortal Divine Body and nourishing the soul. Any one of them, if it appeared in the outside world, would be enough to make Immortal Army Lords and even Marquis Immortals fight over it.
"Rock," Hu Yanbo said calmly as he handed the treasures over, "thank you for your efforts this time. You've suffered considerable losses too. Take these and restore your Divine Body as soon as possible."
Looking at the treasures before her, which would have taken half a lifetime of painstaking savings to afford, Marquis Rock abruptly caught her breath.
Almost instinctively, she swallowed. After a brief struggle showed in her eyes, she asked somewhat sheepishly, her voice as faint as a mosquito's buzz:
"L-Lord Hu Yanbo."
"Um, could I... could I leave these unused for now and take... take them back with me?"
Even she felt her cheeks burning after saying it.
Her words sounded far too much like she was coveting the treasures, but she truly... could not bear to use them!
These things were simply too precious to her!
Taking them back to resell or keeping them to save her life at a critical moment was the best choice.
Immortal Gods had eternal lifespans. A little annihilated divine power was nothing-as long as they survived, they could recover by lying low.
Hu Yanbo was momentarily taken aback, then understood. He shook his head with an amused laugh and waved a hand casually. "As you wish. Since I've given them to you, how you use them is naturally up to you."
To him now, these resources, worth nearly ten million hunyuan units in total, were nothing special.
As though granted a pardon, Marquis Rock hurriedly put the treasures away with the utmost care. Then she looked at Glorious Light, whose aura was steadily growing stronger, and at the composed Hu Yanbo, and sighed inwardly once more. Glory, that fellow, really... had found a treasure!
