"Second Dad, are you hiding something from me?"
"When I came home last year, I asked you and First Dad to check what that light coming out of my head was. You obviously knew something, so why didn't you tell me? And now you're hemming and hawing again."
Seeing Er Ming's expression, Wang Dong jumped straight down from her chair and eyed his decidedly unnatural expression warily.
"Dong, stop this nonsense!"
Da Ming spoke up then, his tone thick with reproach. "When your Second Dad and I examined that light in your head, we suspected it was connected to some strange illness, but we couldn't be certain. We were afraid you'd start jumping at shadows, so we never told you."
"As for your Second Dad hiding something from you, that's even more ridiculous. That Cold Jade Chamber has a Frozen Spring found only in the Far North, formed by absorbing the cold energy of heaven and earth, as well as a Ten-Thousand-Year Cold Jade Marrow Bed that offers enormous benefits to Soul Masters with the Ultimate Ice attribute."
"If that classmate of yours can draw the cold energy from the cold jade bed into his body and circulate it through a few full cycles, even the slow cultivation that's a drawback of an Ultimate Ice Martial Soul can be alleviated considerably. That counts as your Second Dad and me helping repay the favor. What are we hiding from you?"
Da Ming's criticism was rather harsh, making Wang Dong wonder for a moment whether she was the one in the wrong. She obediently lowered her head and apologized. "Second Dad, Second Dad, I was wrong about you. Please don't be angry with me."
As she spoke, Wang Dong reached out to take Er Ming's hand and swung it back and forth.
