Chen Ping was startled. The Fire Evil Tyrant before him reacted frighteningly fast, switching from defense to offense almost in an instant.
The Devouring Dragon had only dropped its protective barrier the instant the Fire Evil Tyrant, seemingly powerless to resist, was dragged right up to it by the terrifying suction, only for the Fire Evil Tyrant to punch straight through its body.
From hunter to prey and back to hunter, the reversal had taken barely an instant. The slightest carelessness might have changed the outcome of the entire hunt.
"Roar!"
A shrill, agonized cry rang out. The Devouring Dragon seemed not to have expected that it would fail to last even a single exchange against this Evil Eye Tyrant.
Although the Devouring Dragon before him was not particularly large, its dying cry echoed through the empty valley, its mournful notes lingering before finally fading. Hearing that piercing roar, Chen Ping instinctively covered his ears.
An inky-black Soul Ring floated out of the Devouring Dragon's body.
However unwilling it might have been, the world of Soul Beasts remained one where the weak were meat for the strong. Mere unwillingness could never turn everything around.
Several of the Fire Evil Tyrant's tentacles slowly extended, like pythons winding their way upward, and wrapped around the Devouring Dragon beneath it, which was about its own size, before it floated toward a nearby cave.
Perhaps because it was dragging an entire Devouring Dragon, the Fire Evil Tyrant did not move particularly quickly, slowly making its way toward the cave just above the ground.
Once it ate this Devouring Dragon, the abundant nourishment would sustain it through a long slumber, and the cave ahead was just right as a place to hibernate.
