Moonlight flowed like water. Tong Hua woke groggily in the middle of the night.
Purrloin lay curled up in front of him, while the one pressed against his back, breathing softly, was presumably Minccino.
Tong Hua shifted carefully, adjusting his position slightly so he would be more comfortable without squashing the Pokémon beside him.
Is it morning already? he wondered, opening his eyes wide to look out the window nearby.
The courtyard outside was still shrouded in darkness, with no sign of dawn at all.
"Strange. Was I just too excited? Why did I suddenly wake up-"
As Tong Hua looked around, he suddenly felt as though something was missing.
"Huh?
"Where did she go?"
Tong Hua took a closer look. Sure enough, Feng's bedding was empty. Only Glameow lay fast asleep on the pillow.
"Did she go to the bathroom? Was it her moving around that woke me up?"
At that thought, Tong Hua rolled slightly onto his side, intending to turn toward the door.
