After all, every End of the Path being he had seen before, no matter how "undaunted in their advance," had ultimately had attachments. And those with attachments had "weaknesses" that could be exploited.
Counting through the long ancient history, looking across epoch after epoch, people like that were undoubtedly the easiest to deal with. They could be used, with no fear at all of them stirring up any waves.
For all those previous End of the Path beings had their own attachments. It was entirely possible to "besiege a position to strike its reinforcements." Whether tempering their own race or keeping the Great Sacrifice in a living cycle, everything could be said to be firmly in hand.
Perhaps from the perspective of the Myriad Heavens, those End of the Path beings were attacking them. In truth, however, it was merely a case of "those in the game being blind to it." Sweeping aside every enemy, looking down upon what they called the Calamity Land-it was all a net laid long ago, a performance.
