"No, I asked the first regular staff member who received you."
In the Fuchsia Gym lobby, the staff member whose Pokémon Trainer type was "Picnicker" had been the first to meet Shen Qi and the first to see the letter and Badge.
Those outside staff members still knew nothing about the supposed challenge letter.
"Oh, right!"
Janine's words made Shen Qi realize that the contents of the letter had been normal when he showed it to the Picnicker.
She hadn't recognized Janine's handwriting and had little authority, so she had passed the tokens along to report them.
After the letter reached Janine, its contents had become an arrogant challenge.
In other words, the letter had been switched during the brief trip from the Picnicker to the internal ninjas, then to Janine-and all within Fuchsia Gym...
No, it hadn't been switched. Someone had erased the words on the same sheet of paper, then imitated Shen Qi's handwriting to write the challenge.
It was simply inconceivable.
The two ninjas who received the Picnicker's letter, followed by Janine, had all been checked. None of the three had any problems.
All they could determine now was that the letter had been rewritten in the brief interval between handovers. They couldn't identify who had rewritten it, much less how.
Shen Qi had just been about to ask... didn't Fuchsia Gym have surveillance cameras?
Then he forced the words back down.
Fuchsia Gym wasn't a military base or a bank vault. Surveillance cameras would always have blind spots, or might only be installed at key points.
The mysterious figure had managed all this and had the skill to knock a ninja unconscious in the woods. How could they fail to avoid cameras...
As such, Fuchsia Gym's surveillance footage offered no clues either.
Janine apologized again, and
