That was Banai's plan. Since Shen Qi did not know where the enemy lay in ambush, he dared not carelessly recall Porygon into its Poké Ball and lose a core source of firepower while Porygon made its way back.
"Good!"
Butler shouted his approval and quit while he was ahead, preparing to rotate in the second wave.
Sharpedo and Poliwrath fell back.
The powerful Salamence, Dusclops, and his signature Poochyena charged forward.
Croak!
There was nothing wrong with the plan, but Poliwrath's retreat suddenly faltered, as though something had tripped it up.
Shen Qi held firm control over the player skill [Shadow Hold], locking down Poliwrath and preventing Sharpedo from leaving the field.
"Florges."
Florges actually had a very strange move pool. As a pure Fairy-type Pokémon, it barely had any Fairy-type moves, even counting its pre-evolution, Floette. Almost all its moves were Grass-type.
But that made it just right for the situation.
Taking advantage of the opponent's Sunny Day, Florges struck Poliwrath with a Solar Beam.
"That didn't take it out?!"
All he could say was that it lived up to its base HP of 90 and base Special Defense of 90.
Fortunately, Lilligant freed itself up and finished Poliwrath off with Giga Drain, restoring some of its own health in the process.
Sharpedo and Golbat had been briefly restrained by Shen Qi. Now that Shadow Hold had ended, their bodies came free, and they nearly collided with Salamence and the other Pokémon coming up behind them. The rotation was disrupted on its very first round.
That was Shen Qi's strategy: weather one wave of attacks, then disrupt the next with Shadow Hold. That should be enough...
After all...
"Didn't you say Mega Evolution would take thirty seconds? It's been over forty!"
"I was under a lot of pressure
