Meowstic's fur bristled again. What king of late-night snacks! I'm the Darkest Day Monarch!
With the Pokémon matching up, Meowstic had guessed who Mime Jr.'s owner was.
"Is your Pokémon Trainer Shen Qi?"
"Yes!"
At the mention of Shen Qi, Mime Jr. grew excited, little stars sparkling even in his dull, sightless eyes.
"He's a great hero, a really, really amazing hero!"
"Oh, give me a break."
Meowstic dismissed that claim. "I've never heard of any powerful Pokémon Trainer named Shen Qi in the battling scene. You can't become a hero without strength."
"Mime!"
Mime Jr. protested vehemently. "Shen Qi is really strong!"
"What rank is he as a Pokémon Trainer?"
As for his rank as a Pokémon Trainer, Mime Jr. had heard Shen Qi mention it... he had said he had only just received his Professional Pokémon Trainer certification.
"Meow, meow, meow, meow!"
Meowstic threw his head back and laughed. "All you need is three Pokémon you've established Bonds with and an open Energy Chakra to get Professional Pokémon Trainer certification. That doesn't even count as getting started in battling."
"Mime!"
Mime Jr. refused to accept that. Shen Qi was really strong, and plenty of people praised his racing skills, too.
Meowstic only knew a little about racing. "What rank is Shen Qi as a Racing Driver?"
"Trainee..."
"Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow!"
Meowstic laughed so hard he nearly toppled over. "I get it. Shen Qi is building up a grand image of himself so his Pokémon will admire him, making it easier to establish relationships. There's nothing wrong with that approach, but he's bragging way too much."
"Shen Qi is really strong! All the Pokémon he raises are really strong, too!"
