Heaven and earth trembled. Blue waves surged and roared, crashing toward her with the power to destroy everything.
Yun Ying's expression remained unchanged at the sight. She slowly took a step forward and raised her jade-like hand. A gleam of starlight flowed between her palm and fingers, then spread outward.
Her flawless, crystalline hand swept through the air. Starlight blazed, and countless runes surged up, brilliant and resplendent, intertwining to brand swathes of patterns into the void.
Wisps of crystalline starlight appeared in the heavens. Then enormous stars manifested one after another, seemingly solid, filling the sky and radiating light in every direction.
Endless starlight rained down as heaven and earth dimmed, as though night had fallen and the shining stars were illuminating all things beneath them.
Yun Ying gently pressed her hand forward. In an instant, the stars plunged from the heavens, crashing down as though doomsday had arrived and the world were approaching its end.
Boom!
The enormous stars struck the blue waves, throwing up towering walls of water. Even the runes exploded.
Star after star fell. The blue waves were riddled with holes in an instant and vanished completely, while the remaining stars bore down on the Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast, their terrifying aura flooding heaven and earth.
"What?! What kind of mastery over runes is this?!"
The Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast paled in shock, then threw back its head and howled. Brilliant light erupted from its entire body, and runes intertwined across its surface, forming deep-blue patterns.
Blue divine light burst forth in countless layers, surging toward the heavens to collide with the falling stars.
Blinding radiance blossomed. The deafening crash shook endless mountains and rivers, flattening the surrounding mountain ranges. Even the lakes split open, their waters pouring into the fissures as their levels plummeted.
When the light faded, everything within several thousand meters had become flat ground. Several meters of earth had been scraped away.
Only the Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast and Yun Ying remained on the battlefield. They faced one another across the distance, their powerful auras clashing and sparking thunder and lightning.
"Now I'm more certain than ever. Devouring you will definitely take me to greater heights!"
The Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast stared at Yun Ying, opening its broad, fanged mouth to speak in a human tongue.
It had never seen a young person with such terrifying talent. Even pureblood creatures could not compare to Yun Ying in its estimation. If it devoured someone with such talent and potential, it would evolve to an unimaginable level.
As its words fell, the Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast sprang into the air, crossing hundreds of meters in an instant. Its clawed forelimb shone as it slammed down at Yun Ying.
Yun Ying said nothing, her eyes still deep and tranquil. She raised her fair hand slightly, and as her fingers loosely closed, the Purple Bamboo Sword appeared in her grasp.
The instant the Purple Bamboo Sword appeared, its ringing cry resounded like a dragon's. Terrifying Sword Dao sharpness burst forth, runic light shot into the heavens, and ten thousand streams of sword energy tore through the void.
Clang!
The massive clawed forelimb collided with the Purple Bamboo Sword, sending sparks flying. Two different kinds of runic power clashed, and the beast's roar and the sword's ringing cry shook heaven and earth.
The two figures, one enormous and one small, remained locked in a stalemate-an utterly incongruous sight.
The Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast looked at the person before it. Though she was only in the spirit transformation realm, she could contend with a beast king in the inscription realm like itself, seemingly without the slightest strain. It could not help marveling inwardly.
Yet even as it marveled, its desire to devour her grew stronger.
Roar!
The Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast roared. Terrifying sound waves erupted, gathering into a torrent of runes that rushed toward Yun Ying.
Purple sword light flashed, peerlessly sharp and unstoppable, tearing through the sound waves. A severed claw flew into the air and fell to the ground.
Yun Ying's figure appeared behind the Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast, her purple robes fluttering in the wind, her bearing peerless. Light flowed along the Purple Bamboo Sword in her hand, its keen edge blazing ever brighter.
The Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast was slow to react. Only when it saw the claw lying on the ground did it understand what had happened.
Its pupils immediately narrowed into vertical slits, and fury swept through its body. One of its claws had actually been cut off, its flesh breached. To it, this was an enormous humiliation.
"I'll eat you!"
The Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast roared and whirled around. Runic light erupted from its body, blasting in every direction as its enormous form charged out to kill Yun Ying.
Even facing the enraged Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast, Yun Ying's expression did not change in the slightest. She seemed utterly detached, ethereal and untouched by the mortal world.
The sword rang out, its killing aura spilling in every direction. With the Purple Bamboo Sword in hand, Yun Ying moved with light, graceful steps, flashing repeatedly through the air as she met the Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast.
A terrifying battle erupted. The earth cracked without end as the woman and beast became two spheres of light, fighting fiercely in the sky and on the ground. Terrifying sword energy and runic light shot outward, tearing through everything.
Purple sword light streaked like a rainbow, cleaving through everything with unmatched sharpness. Nothing could withstand it. Even the Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast's body could not stop it; its flesh was torn open, blood splashing across the sky.
The Purple Bamboo Sword was like an immortal sword, unleashing boundless brilliance in Yun Ying's hand. She resembled a peerless sword immortal. Every stroke turned decay into wonder, dazzling heaven and earth as it struck unerringly at each opening in the Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast's defenses.
Purple sword light pierced the blue waves. The patterns within them exploded with a thunderous crash, breaking apart into runes. The Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast roared again and again, both shocked and furious.
"Why is this happening?!"
It watched the figure dancing before it like a purple sprite, traces of fear appearing in its golden pupils. Every attack she made targeted its weaknesses. Had she opened a heavenly eye?
Otherwise, how could she possibly accomplish something so horrifying?
If she could seize upon every opening in its defenses without a heavenly eye, that was simply too terrifying. This was not something a mortal could do. It belonged to the domain of gods.
The sword's song was sweet to the ear, its light like cascading rivers of stars, dazzling and radiant. Yet it also held peerless sharpness, enough to slaughter across all the heavens.
"Aagh!"
An agonized roar rang out. The Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast staggered backward, trailing vivid sprays of blood. One of its clawed forelimbs had been ripped open by the sword's edge, even the bones severed. Sword energy ravaged its wound, leaving it in unbearable pain.
It endured the pain and activated its runes to staunch the bleeding, then looked ahead again.
The lovely purple figure was slowly approaching it with light steps. Each step left a transparent flower in the air, formed from condensed sword energy, like a jade lotus in full bloom.
After she passed, those transparent Sword Blossoms shattered like bubbles, their astonishing sharpness flashing briefly before vanishing.
That alone revealed the heights of her mastery of the Sword Dao. Its divine essence had seeped into her very bones; every movement naturally revealed the sword's rhythm.
At the sight, the Jade-Eyed Golden-Pupiled Beast's heart filled with fear. How could it still fail to understand? The purple-haired girl before it was far more than a prodigy-she was a peerless prodigy. Even with its higher cultivation, it could not match her.
If it kept fighting, forget devouring her-it would lose its own life here instead.
