May 8, Monday.
A week had already passed since Kartana had been caught.
The Pokémon in the backyard had undergone another rotation, too.
To give Kartana a little sense of home, Young Master Mao had specially brought Decidueye over to stay with him.
Aside from that, there were other Pokémon skilled at slashing: Scizor, Weavile, Absol, and Sceptile...

Young Master Mao was also somewhat at a loss about raising Kartana. After all, this thing was an Ultra Beast, not a species from this world.
So he could only try out formulas for things like Pokéblocks one by one.
The good news was that this fellow ate food. Since it ate food, it probably wouldn't eat people, right...?

After all, anyone who played tactically understood the value of Grass/Steel...
With this powerhouse's 181 Attack and 109 Speed, taking the main damage-dealer role would be no problem at all.
But all that was for later. Right now... he didn't even know whether Kartana could fit into the group...
Shing! Clang! Crack! ...After a burst of noise, Young Master Mao looked up toward the backyard.
The alloy blades in Scizor's claws reflected a cold gleam. With Leaf Blade in one hand and Air Slash in the other, Kartana floated lightly opposite Scizor.
The two swordsmen sheathed their blades in unison. With a crack, the courtyard wall split cleanly into four pieces...
Sitting on the wall, Blaziken stared at the wall split in two beneath its crotch,
