Birth of the Digital World

The existence of Digimon isn't true artificial intelligence in the real sense.

At least, not yet.

Liang Xing built his own server and created the Digital World. Digital Eggs are virtual lifeforms born from the Digital World.

In essence, a Digital Egg is just a raw stream of data.

Depending on the data it acquires during its growth, the Digimon that hatches will follow the underlying logic set by Liang Xing, classifying it into different types of Digimon.

Because the Digital World exists, Digital Eggs can be born, and Digimon can be active on the network.
