As Su Yao carefully sensed her surroundings, her whole body shuddered involuntarily, like someone playing a game on a stool who suddenly received an electric shock to the backside.
"Something's happening!! Over by Group B!!" Su Yao suppressed her surging blood and hurriedly called out the location.
Zhao Lei and Chen Yu braced themselves. The captain said in a low voice, "Don't rush in! Go to the Covered Bridge first. Observe carefully, and don't expose our position!"
"Su Yao, keep watch. Han Xuan, be ready to provide rescue at any moment!"
"Understood!"
The five of them crept over to the Covered Bridge and looked toward Group B's position in the Teaching Building.
Normally, the fifth floor and above of the Teaching Building were filled with thick fog. Visibility was extremely low even during the day, yet when they looked over, the view was far clearer than ever before.
The shock waves unleashed by Wei Shan's rampage had smoothed the wrinkles in this Layer like an iron, blowing away much of the fog and drastically reducing the things contaminating their vision on the fifth floor and above.
And when they looked over, it happened to be the moment Wei Shan fell from high above for the first time.
"Right on the eighth floor-" Zhao Lei whispered.
"What is that thing?" Chen Yu asked, looking at Su Yao.
Su Yao shook her head slightly. "I don't know either. It looks like some humanoid mass of Ashes-could someone really have managed to contain 'Ashes' within themselves?"
The captain said gravely, "It isn't necessarily human, either-there are far too many nonhuman things in the Campus. We haven't encountered them only because we've stayed on the Campus's surface. The deeper we go, the more we'll encounter abnormal life-forms that deal powerful blows to our Cognition."
