Ch. 203The so-called "Day of Destruction"

Mao Feiyang saw a terrifying distortion behind the wall that connected Building D to the Library, and Mu Daxian pulled him back from its grasp. Mu Daxian explained the Gray Fog invasions and the Day of Destruction, while Lin Yi’s vision returned to the dream and he wondered when Mao Feiyang had lost his Student Commemorative Coin.

  • Mao Feiyang saw a hidden procession pass through Building D’s Covered Bridge and learned that he had nearly followed the Security Guard’s request.
  • Mao Feiyang touched the wall and saw the Library beyond Building D, while Lin Yi experienced the vision through Mao Feiyang’s perspective across time.
  • The Covered Bridge warped into a terrifying, eye-filled abyss that began swallowing Mao Feiyang, but Mu Daxian pulled him away and restored the space.
  • Mao Feiyang asked about the Library, and Mu Daxian explained that its path was one-way and that the current crisis was the 73rd Gray Fog invasion.
  • Mu Daxian described Gray Fog invasions as aftereffects of the ancient Battle of the Day of Destruction, and Lin Yi returned to the earlier dream wondering whether Mao Feiyang lost his Student Commemorative Coin in the elevator.

Ch. 204Look directly at me

As a Concept-Level Sculpture stronger than an Angel approached Teaching Building B, Lin Yi became entranced by its information and nearly succumbed to it. Mu Daxian snapped Mao Feiyang out of the same influence and began using an unfamiliar power, leaving Lin Yi to face the Sculpture’s threat.

  • Mu Daxian sensed a powerful being nearby, warned Mao Feiyang not to look down, and said it was stronger than an Angel.
  • The lights in Teaching Building B flickered and went out as a mass of light emerged from the Wooded Belt at 22:47:31 on May 7.
  • Lin Yi recognized the Concept-Level Sculpture and struggled to reconcile its appearance with his understanding of the Gray Fog invasion’s timeline.
  • Lin Yi stared at the Sculpture and became enthralled by its beauty and information, losing himself in its influence.
  • Mu Daxian realized Mao Feiyang had also been drawn in, shook him back to awareness, and explained that the Sculpture’s information could contaminate anyone curious about it.
  • Mu Daxian commanded Mao Feiyang to look directly at him, revealed cold golden light in his eyes, and spoke a sentence in Norwegian.

Ch. 205Were you the ancient Greek god of part-time jobs?

Mu Daxian explained how the school’s Rules helped people avoid deadly contamination, then led Mao Feiyang through the Teaching Building as his wound worsened and Night-Walking Species closed in. They kept running toward midnight, with the chapter leaving Mao exhausted and the pursuing creatures nearly upon them.

  • Lin Yi recognized Mu Daxian’s strange recitation as an admonition from the Night Watchman Iron Laws, while Mu Daxian restrained Mao Feiyang when he tried to cling to him.
  • Mu Daxian explained that the Rules were designed to help people avoid contamination, and warned that they should either avoid a threat or fight to kill it.
  • Mao Feiyang’s wound split wider, drawing the attention of nearby Night-Walking Species, so Mu Daxian took him across the Covered Bridge to wash it.
  • The wound kept bleeding, and Mu Daxian led Mao Feiyang on a circuit through the teaching buildings to evade the pursuing creatures until they could return to the art building at midnight.
  • The pursuing Purebred Night-Walking Species and Impersonators gathered into a growing horde as Mao Feiyang weakened and asked how much longer they had to run.

Ch. 206Angel Sculpture

Mao Feiyang and Mu Daxian tried to return to the Art Building after midnight, but an Angel Sculpture pursued Mao Feiyang through the Teaching Building. They entered an elevator surrounded by Angel Sculptures, and Lin Yi realized the creatures were toying with Mao Feiyang.

  • After midnight, Mao Feiyang sensed a ripple in the air as Mu Daxian led him toward the first floor of Building A.
  • Mu Daxian warned Mao Feiyang to hold on to his Student Commemorative Coin and follow his signals if anything went wrong.
  • Mao Feiyang saw an Angel Sculpture in a nonexistent window’s reflection, and Mu Daxian hurried him downstairs.
  • The Angel Sculpture continued following Mao Feiyang, though Mu Daxian said it pursued “light” and could not see it clearly.
  • Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang entered the elevator, where lightning revealed Angel Sculptures in all four corners.
  • Lin Yi glimpsed an Angel Sculpture’s sinister face and sensed that the creatures were playing with Mao Feiyang.

Ch. 207Almost Zero Chance of Survival

Mu Daxian realized Mao Feiyang’s wound carried a Judgment Mark that drew the Angel Sculptures, whose Soul Siphon was draining him. With nine Angel Sculptures pursuing them and almost no chance of surviving an encounter, Mu Daxian gave Mao Feiyang his Student Commemorative Coin and made him press both coins to the wound, leaving them to drain his blood as Mao’s heartbeat grew stronger.

  • Mu Daxian pulled Mao Feiyang out of the elevator and discovered that the wound on Mao Feiyang’s arm had become a Judgment Mark carrying His lingering aura.
  • Mu Daxian explained that the Angel Sculptures were drawn to Mao Feiyang and were siphoning away his Supernatural Power, then rushed him toward another elevator.
  • Five Angel Sculptures appeared around Mao Feiyang, and the pair fled when the elevator opened to reveal more; the pursuing group grew to nine.
  • Mu Daxian explained that the Student Commemorative Coins could not defeat Angel Sculptures and that the survival rate for Art Students who encountered them was almost zero.
  • Mu Daxian gave Mao Feiyang his coin and told him to press it together with his own against the wound, where the coins began greedily sucking out his blood.
  • Mu Daxian urged Mao Feiyang to endure as the Angel Sculptures watched, and Mao Feiyang felt his heart beating harder despite his blood loss.

Ch. 208Gales, torrential rain, a streetlamp, and an Impersonator!

Mu Daxian led Mao Feiyang through a storm to escape the Angel Sculptures and reach a Streetlamp Pole, while Lin Yi observed from nearby. They found an Impersonator beneath the pole, and Mu Daxian pinned it down while pretending it was Mao Feiyang.

  • As Mao Feiyang and Mu Daxian neared His domain, Angel Sculptures emerged in the fog and the Student Commemorative Coins drained Mao Feiyang’s blood and supernatural power.
  • Mu Daxian warned Mao Feiyang that the Angel Sculptures could turn him into an Impersonator without him realizing he had died, then led him away from the Covered Bridge.
  • Lin Yi estimated the limits of His domain and considered why the school and authorities had not eliminated Him before noticing Mao Feiyang and Mu Daxian enter the storm.
  • Mao Feiyang absorbed supernatural power from the rain until Mu Daxian warned him to resist its corrosion, and lightning revealed nine Angel Sculptures surrounding them.
  • Mu Daxian spotted a Streetlamp Pole and charged toward it with Mao Feiyang, where they found an Impersonator licking the number painted on the pole.
  • Mu Daxian dragged the Impersonator away from the pole, pinned it down, and addressed it as if it were Mao Feiyang.

Ch. 209A string of wild tricks

Mu Daxian used Student Commemorative Coins and a streetlamp’s bulb to send an Impersonator into the Angel Sculptures’ domain, then painted a passage through a wall to escape with Mao Feiyang. They reached a temporary refuge in the Teaching Building, but Mu Daxian was badly injured and the Angel Sculptures still blocked their way out.

  • Mao Feiyang removed the Student Commemorative Coins from his wounds, and Mu Daxian gave them to the Impersonator, who took on Mao Feiyang’s identity.
  • Mu Daxian ripped the glowing bulb from a streetlamp, burning his hand, then forced it into the Impersonator and hurled him into the Angel Sculptures’ domain.
  • Mu Daxian painted the dead end near the Teaching Building’s Covered Bridge until it matched his drawing, then led Mao Feiyang through the wall into a hidden space.
  • Mu Daxian collapsed with a badly burned, bluish-gray hand and told Mao Feiyang they were safe for now.
  • Mao Feiyang realized they could not return to the Art Building because Angel Sculptures were everywhere outside, leaving them to spend the night in the Teaching Building.

Ch. 210The second kind of light

Trapped on campus during the gray fog invasion, Mao Feiyang learned that Mu Daxian expected the danger to worsen and urged him to paint firelight for warmth. Mao Feiyang unexpectedly created warmth without touching the drawing board, but the light flickered and the dead end turned sinister again.

  • Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang and Lin Yi that the invasion had not reached its peak and that they needed to return to the Art Building the next day.
  • Mu Daxian explained Spatial Overwriting and pushed Mao Feiyang to paint firelight after warning that his soaked clothes could make him freeze.
  • Mao Feiyang struggled to paint as he grew colder, while Lin Yi watched helplessly from within the dream.
  • Mao Feiyang began painting in the air, raising the dead end's temperature and filling it with orange light.
  • Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang that he had created the warmth himself, but the light flickered and a sinister chill returned.

Ch. 211Three kinds of Angel Sculptures

Mu Daxian explained how art students could use their supernatural power to overwrite their surroundings, while Lin Yi connected Mao Feiyang’s abilities to his own awakening. As Mu Daxian described the different Angel Sculptures, Lin Yi realized Mao Feiyang might have nearly become one of the sculptures in the Teaching Building.

  • Mao Feiyang credited Mu Daxian with teaching him to create warmth and light by channeling supernatural power through art.
  • Lin Yi theorized that Mao Feiyang had transmitted supernatural traits that helped awaken Lin Yi’s own Minecraft ability, and he wondered whether their dormmates were connected.
  • Mao Feiyang asked why Mu Daxian had not used the Student Commemorative Coin to lure the Angel Sculptures away and escape through the elevator.
  • Mu Daxian explained that there were three kinds of Angel Sculptures and described the Grinning Angels, which drained contaminated people’s supernatural power before pulling them into the Angels’ layer.
  • Lin Yi realized Mao Feiyang might have fled from Grinning Angels into the Stairwell and ended up among the sculptures in the cavern.

Ch. 212The Fanatical Mu Daxian

Mu Daxian explained how he and Mao Feiyang escaped the Grinning Angels by turning a newly formed Impersonator into a supernatural-power-filled decoy. When a violent disturbance shook the Teaching Building, Mu Daxian became convinced something extraordinary had entered the battle and left to see it, giving Mao Feiyang his drawing board and instructions in case he did not return.

  • Mu Daxian explained that Alien Angels could be escaped by reaching the Gymnasium and calling for the Gym Teacher, while Mao Feiyang joked about his earlier rescue.
  • Mu Daxian described how he used blood-soaked Student Commemorative Coins, a newly formed Impersonator, and a streetlamp to create a decoy that drew the Grinning Angels away.
  • A tremor shook the Teaching Building, followed by a heavy impact that made Mu Daxian suspect multiple Security Guards and other individuals had joined the battle.
  • Mu Daxian decided to leave the dead end to witness the battle, told Mao Feiyang how to escape if he did not return, and handed him the drawing board.
  • Mu Daxian stepped into the corridor murmuring, "'Engler Gr mOt lySet og gr ikkE p Avveie.'"

Ch. 213Flat animated image

Lin Yi witnessed a distorted supernatural vision in which the Dormitory Building appeared to enter the battlefield, while Mu Daxian returned shaken and decided to report what he had seen. Before dawn, Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang set out for the Cafeteria to collect Student Commemorative Coins and reach the elevator before six, encountering Impersonators emerging from classrooms.

  • As Mu Daxian left the dead end, his protective cloth began fading, and Lin Yi glimpsed a collapsing world and the Dormitory Building lit by dorm supervisors carrying Old Kerosene Lamps.
  • Mu Daxian returned disheveled, restored the cloth, and muttered that something had gone wrong after seeing someone he had thought was dead.
  • Mu Daxian decided to tell the teachers what he had witnessed and rested in the dead end with Mao Feiyang.
  • Before dawn, Mu Daxian woke Mao Feiyang and proposed going to the Cafeteria to collect Student Commemorative Coins and return before six.
  • Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang left the dead end and saw Night-walking species and Impersonators filing out of classroom doors.

Ch. 214The fourth type

Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang traveled toward the Cafeteria at dawn, discussing the Impersonators, the Art Building, and ways to manage their injuries and resources. Mu Daxian then attacked two Impersonators feeding on a Streetlamp, leaving his explanation for doing so unfinished.

  • Mu Daxian explained that they needed to reach the Cafeteria before returning by elevator, to reduce the aura on them, treat their arm injuries, and replenish their supplies.
  • As dawn came, the Impersonators withdrew into the Wooded Belt, and Mu Daxian explained their sensory limits and shared what he knew about the Night Watchman and Security Guard Rules.
  • Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang that Streetlamps could serve as backup energy but warned that using their power carried serious backlash.
  • Mu Daxian spotted two Impersonators draining a fading Streetlamp and smashed them flat with his drawing board.
  • Mao Feiyang questioned why Mu Daxian attacked them if Impersonators could not be eliminated, and Mu Daxian began to explain that killing and eliminating them were different.

Ch. 215Those Who Chase the Light Through Fog Become Phantoms

Mu Daxian explained how contamination spread, how the Student Rules and Head Teachers helped contain it, and how streetlamp light and the Night Watchman Iron Laws harmed Impersonators and Night-Walking Species. After learning the rules’ deeper logic, Mao Feiyang asked why the Impersonators were recklessly charging toward the streetlamps and whether the Day of Destruction was driving them.

  • Mu Daxian warned Mao Feiyang that contaminated Experience Students could spread contamination, and that the Student Rules were designed to prevent them from thinking themselves into danger.
  • Mu Daxian explained that reports about the Art Building helped Head Teachers track sculpture-form Impersonators and respond to Gray Fog invasions.
  • Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang that the two Impersonators were transformed Night-Walking Species who had taken Experience Students’ Student IDs and were beyond saving.
  • Mu Daxian explained that streetlamp light damaged Impersonators and that reciting the Night Watchman Iron Laws could harm Night-Walking Species.
  • Mao Feiyang asked why the Impersonators were charging into the streetlamp light and whether the Day of Destruction was driving them.

Ch. 216This is your friend in the cafeteria?

Mu Daxian explained how newborn impersonators drained streetlamps and avoided an attack by two Weird Art Students as he led Mao Feiyang through the Cafeteria passages. They met Mu Daxian’s old ally Lao Mo, the Blue Apron Chef, and Mu Daxian asked him to treat his hand.

  • Mu Daxian explained that newborn impersonators absorbed streetlamp power and died, then destroyed two that had drained a nearby lamp.
  • Mu Daxian sensed a hidden Weird Art Student and left the area without repainting the streetlamp number; two Weird Art Students then decided to retreat.
  • Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang that newborn impersonators caused most streetlamps to go dark, though he did not know what would happen if every lamp went out.
  • Mu Daxian led Mao Feiyang through a lit Other Passage toward the Student Dining Hall, warning him not to take a wrong turn.
  • Mao Feiyang tripped on the steps and panicked when he saw a Blue Apron Chef, but Mu Daxian identified him as Lao Mo, his trusted friend.
  • Mu Daxian greeted Lao Mo and asked him to treat his hand.

Ch. 217The Story of Lao Mo and Mu Daxian

Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang returned to Lao Mo, who treated their injured arms while Lin Yi realized the Cafeteria’s passages might connect different layers. As dawn threatened to hide the Convenience Store entrance, Mu Daxian began recounting how Lao Mo had saved him during the 63rd Gray Fog invasion.

  • Lao Mo scraped supernatural contamination from Mu Daxian’s arm, and Mu Daxian admitted he had bluffed the Grinning Angels because he could not defeat them.
  • Lao Mo sensed a familiar presence on Mao Feiyang but said he could not remove He’s mark, then treated Mao Feiyang’s injured arm.
  • Lin Yi deduced that the Other Passage and Student Passage connected through shifting layers, and wondered whether the Green Apron Chefs and routes to other Campus areas worked similarly.
  • Lao Mo urged Mu Daxian to stay safe, and Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang returned as dawn broke and risked making the Convenience Store entrance difficult to find.
  • Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang that Lao Mo had once rescued him from impersonators during the 63rd Gray Fog invasion, when Mu Daxian was a new student lost in the fog.

Ch. 218Lao Mo Was Already Dead

Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang how Lao Mo died defending the Cafeteria during the 70th Gray Fog invasion and explained why the Convenience Store Owner had drawn the threat away. Lao Mo still guarded the Cafeteria in a body sustained by his will and supernatural power, though his exact condition remained mysterious.

  • Mu Daxian recalled how Lao Mo once escorted him through Impersonators and later fought a Grinning Angel, then described learning that Lao Mo had disappeared after the 70th Gray Fog invasion.
  • Mu Daxian explained that Lao Mo was severely wounded rescuing Athlete Students, returned to defend students sheltering in the Cafeteria, and kept fighting after the other defenders fell.
  • Mu Daxian said the Convenience Store Owner had drawn the Gray Fog away to prevent the Cafeteria from becoming a battlefield between powerful beings, while the black-apron Chefs reinforced other areas.
  • Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang that Lao Mo had truly died in battle but had continued fighting long enough for the Convenience Store Owner to return and save the Cafeteria.
  • Mu Daxian explained that Lao Mo's dead body was controlled by brainwaves attached to the Cafeteria, and suggested he had sustained himself by absorbing supernatural power from the enemies he killed.

Ch. 219"Too"

Mu Daxian explained how Lao Mo had bound himself to the Cafeteria, holding it against impersonators while remaining trapped at its entrance. After the Cafeteria opened, Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang entered for breakfast, where Mu used a Tomato to expose the approaching Green Apron Chef to Lao Mo.

  • Mu Daxian told Mao Feiyang that Lao Mo's will had anchored the Cafeteria and his chef identity together, sustaining him through the gray fog invasions while keeping him confined to the entrance.
  • Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang entered the Cafeteria at 5:40 a.m. and bought breakfast without swiping their cards.
  • Mao Feiyang noticed a Tomato on each tray and saw a Green Apron Chef approaching them, urging him to eat one.
  • Mu Daxian ducked, struck the Green Apron Chef with his drawing board, kicked it toward the Plastic Air Curtain, and threw his Tomato to lift one corner.
  • The Green Apron Chef sensed that Lao Mo had locked onto it when the curtain opened.

Ch. 221Origins

Lin Yi watched Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang escape into the Convenience Store as a wounded Green Apron Chef retreated and Meal Window No. 10 erupted in Gray Fog. After Mao Feiyang read the store’s rules, a humanoid shadow appeared behind the fog at the doorway.

  • Lao Mo struck the Green Apron Chef through the Plastic Air Curtain, and Lin Yi recognized it as the deformed chef that had once given Mu Daxian and Mao Feiyang Tomatoes.
  • Mu Daxian led Mao Feiyang to the Convenience Store when morning sunlight revealed its entrance in the Cafeteria’s boundary between light and darkness.
  • Mu Daxian pulled Mao Feiyang inside as an ominous aura rose from Meal Window No. 10 and Gray Fog spread through the Cafeteria.
  • Mao Feiyang read the Convenience Store Instructions, which described its owners and warned students to flee from an owner with no Name Badge or an abnormal one.
  • Mao Feiyang approached the doorway, and a humanoid black shadow appeared behind the Gray Fog.

Ch. 222No Coins

During the Gray Fog’s attack on the Convenience Store, Mu Daxian fought off the invading Impersonators while Mao Feiyang searched for Student Commemorative Coins. Mao Feiyang found a shadowed aisle full of coins, but his instincts warned him not to enter, and Mu Daxian shouted for him to stay away.

  • The Convenience Store shook as the Gray Fog surged inside, and a strange bluish-gray creature crawled through the entrance.
  • Mu Daxian transformed his drawing board into a cross-shaped weapon and turned an Impersonator into a plaster-like sculpture.
  • More Impersonators and Night-Walking Species poured inside, and Mu Daxian fought them back while ordering Mao Feiyang to search for Student Commemorative Coins.
  • Mao Feiyang found no coins in the ordinary aisles, but then spotted shelves full of coins in a dark area and felt an urgent warning not to enter.
  • Mu Daxian sensed the danger and shouted for Mao Feiyang not to go near the shadowed aisle.

Ch. 223Deeper into the Wooded Belt

Mu Daxian led Mao Feiyang out of the Convenience Store with Student Commemorative Coins and into the Wooded Belt, where he searched for abandoned streetlamps to mask the aura attracting the Grinning Angels. As Lin Yi followed through Mao Feiyang’s perspective, he realized the Campus’s Mountainous Region contained no living animals at all.

  • Mu Daxian warned Mao Feiyang not to enter the shadowed shelves, then sent him through the Convenience Store exit while he went to retrieve Student Commemorative Coins.
  • Lin Yi’s vision shifted through a transition, and he found himself following Mao Feiyang again as the pair entered the Sculpture Phalanx with Mu Daxian.
  • Mu Daxian confirmed that they had obtained the Student Commemorative Coins and explained that he needed to mask Mao Feiyang’s faint aura before the Grinning Angels pursued them again.
  • Mu Daxian led Mao Feiyang deeper into the Wooded Belt to search for abandoned streetlamp poles with bulbs they could use to mask the aura.
  • Lin Yi noticed the deep forest was silent and realized that no living animals existed in the Campus’s Mountainous Region.
