After all, much of the time when marriage registry staff were off work, Zhou Quan might well be working overtime at the Police Force.
Accompanied by the head of the Central Marriage Registry, Zhou Quan and Au Wing-yan officially began the public notice period for their marriage.
Once the fifteen-day notice period passed without anyone raising an objection, the couple could hold their wedding and become husband and wife under Hong Kong Island law.
In truth, this was only a formality. Both families had long hoped the young couple would tie the knot, so how could they possibly object?
Next came the various wedding preparations.
