The Western Regions.
As the name suggested, the lands west of All Xia were the Western Regions.
This was the name the Sage King had established.
What lay in those Western Regions, the Sage King had not said. They had to see for themselves, and so Luo Zhongkan had come.
"The Hexi Corridor!"
After more than a year of arduous travel, the party reached the borders of what would later be Dunhuang. Luo Zhongkan turned to look east. The name Hexi Corridor had, of course, come directly from Ji Zhao. He did not want that name to change.
The Western Regions, the Hexi Corridor, Anxi-to Ji Zhao, these words carried a special meaning, just like that piece, "Dream of the Hexi Corridor." Even now, he could almost still feel a wind blowing from there, sweeping through Anxi, all the way to Chang'an and Luoyang.
In his previous life, people online had joked about Great Tang: Anxi's frontier stretched ten thousand li, but the border defenses stood at Fengxiang.
Yet to Ji Zhao, this was an eternal pain. If Anxi's frontier stretched ten thousand li, then ten thousand li it should be.
Ji Zhao had not the slightest interest in the turmoil within All Xia, its schemes and intrigues, its shameless lack of integrity. But whether it was Anxi ten thousand li away, the vast maritime territories, the great rivers, or the mountains, streams, forests, and trees, he loved them all.
"From here, we enter the Western Regions in full. It is time to sing the Sage King's praises. His radiance will fall upon this land. Every inch of darkness will be ours to open up, every inch of land ours to measure."
Luo Zhongkan knelt on one knee facing east. Everyone followed suit, lowering their heads and crossing their hands.
